Holy hell, look at the dome on that thing! It looks exactly like the drawings, unfortunately. At the risk of being a pain, can you put a T95 next to it. The T95 has the tallest dome I know if. The Janus looks even taller. How can that not be an issue?

LOOT Here is the Timeless .95 next to the Janus and since you brought it up which I'm not sure I covered it so good question but I'm going to do a quick one pass Shave Off this morning before going to work so I'll use the Timeless .95 and the Janus and report back tonight as I'm pressed for time to get to work but if I remember right as big as it is I had no problem getting under the nose. As normal with any razor with a larger head all I had to do was lift up my nose a bit more but I do that with all my razors as it's my skin stretch in that center of the nose area but I'll do a quick report on the 1 pass Shave Off with the  T95 tonight.

The head on the Janus is surprisingly not much larger than the Timeless. I imagined it way bigger. Same with the length and weight. Not bad!

Visavis Timeless, there's now have a choice.....Thor's hammer...
...or Odin's battle-axe.

This is defo for guys who like the heavy stuff....I cant even picture
how this gets under the nose.

I"ll let you know later how that goes as far as under my nose but like I stated in the last post I don't remember it being a problem. Weight wise the Janus is 122 grams on my scale and it's only one gram heavier than my WR1 SS .94 121 grams and it's 5 grams lighter than my Timeless .95 DC SS at 127 grams with the shorter Barberpole handle on so anyone with the longer handle Timeless and I'm thinking this razor will probably be noticeably lighter in hand and probably the same length but I sold both my long handles so I can't make that comparison. The way the razor is designed it actually fits in my hands nicely when I use the balance point which I found on my own on the first Shave with it but after looking at the brochure that comes with the razor I was right as it actually shows it in the brochure. I have normal sized hands so I'm thinking maybe for those with very small hands it may be an issue but for medium to larger hands it will be no issue I'm sure.

Looking at the height of that head, I can't imagine it NOT being an issue. I know, I know, it's my technique.

Apparently someone emailed Eric about this and he's sending over photos of the production model and he mentioned to me that the dome will be the size of a Gillette Slim adjustable so a huge difference and as soon as I get the photos I'll post them up but it won't be till later as I'm rushing off to work.

Shew....hard to see how he can go from StayPuff man to Slim head. Proof is in the pudding...or pictures. I still wish he'd come address his own product. It doesn't make you feel good that he's so disinterested or needs to employ the help of others to push his $600+ products. If he's unavailable now, except to a few, he likely won't be too involved if there are issues after purchase.

And a totally different head height has got to change the shave, no? It seems these reviews and comparisons become irrelevant as fast as you post them. But please, continue. It's fairly amusing.

After looking around on the Kickstarter diagrams a bit. It does look like he's changed that head quite a bit from the prototype. He is showing a .375" head height. At 3/8" it's pretty darned close to the original toggle. I understand, as you've stated Frankie, you are using the prototype. However, you are promoting a product that, IMO, will be vastly different (arguably better) than what the buyer will get. Doesn't seem right to me either way.

The smoothness you are feeling will likely be diminished quite a bit because of the radius difference...at least it seems like it would anyway. The other question is does that head height change the blade curvature? If it does, more performance loss?

Frankie...honestly, I think you may be doing yourself a disservice here brother. You are pushing a $500 razor based on the properties of a prototype. I can see some irritated people if this thing shaves poorly on delivery. Maybe that's why they wouldn't allow you to do this review across the street. Do as you wish, but I would be hesitant to put myself in a position to lose ANY good will among the community over a razor you have ZERO skin in. Unsolicited advice.

As a consumer, it's good to see pictures of this thing side by side with a Timeless head,
which I took an instant dislike to, due to the bulk of the head (the shave
was ok).

This prototype head is even bulkier than Timeless...never thought it was possible.

It seems shavers might need to overcome a few things before they get comfy with the Janus.

• Small hands and dainty fingers
• Fear of lifting heavy things
• Small skin area between nose and upper lip (philtrum)
• Possibly questionable shaving technique

I had no idea that this wasn’t going to be the actual Razor that Eric was going to be selling. When you said ‘Prototype’ I assumed the only difference would be the Knurling that isn’t present on your example. If the Head Geometry is changing on the actual production model, won’t the Shave change as well? If that’s the case, then what is the point of all these Shave Off’s if the Razor your using won’t be the one Eric is selling?

you bring up a valid concern and a great point. I would imagine all the testing, poking and prodding
should be done behind closed doors....and then when the entire panel of shave experts have been satiated,
then bring out the leaders of shaving communities and shave ambassadors to test and spread the word.

Or come out and spread the word about your own product instead of using a few people as your mouthpiece. If Eric was involved there wouldn’t be so many questions or confusion regarding the product he is trying to sell. The feedback from people on this and other forums would probably be invaluable to him, especially seeing as how he obviously doesn’t really know much about wet shaving. If we are his target market, it would probably be a good idea to be involved/available to us.

Hello Eric ... are you there ? Please feel free to jump in to answer some questions regarding your product.
