Finally got round to the despined GEMs. Yes, they last a whole lot longer and keep giving smooth shaves (bar the first). But the smoothest shave of all is the first with the Feather, and Feather also wins on post-shave feel: not a hint of irritation regardless of the blade being on its first or rougher fifth shave. Unfortunately the best are divided between two worlds...

I'll probably try and keep both stocked up.

This is my first post, and I wanted to send a big thank you for this remarkable thread, and especially to Brian for the comprehensive reviews and journaling.

I DON'T want to like this OneBlade at all-I spent many years on my techniques with the DE razor, angles, pressure, you know the drill. Now this comes along, and I found that I can lay the guard against the skin, and the slightest pressure activates the pivot and provides a good angle. It's very counter intuitive for a long term DE shaver.

After a week of shaving with the OneBlade, I'm impressed (so much so that I just got a second one yesterday-a Collector's Edition. I did an unboxing video, don't know how it came out yet).

It somehow feels more like a 'barber's' shave than my usual DE shave (Ikon Slant, etc.)

Although I've used Feather blades for years, but after reading Brian's posts I may try despining some Gem blades.

Anyway, a big thank you for this thread!

Michael, my thanks to you for reading this thread and I'm excited to hear how the OneBlade is working for you. Please share a link to your unboxing vid of the Collectors version. Also any pictures would be nice.

Thanks again for joining up and posting here.

Michael P welcome to DFS.  It's good to have you with us.

Brian (SharpSpine) did just an amazing job with this thread and the fact that it has so many posts attests to that. Smile

Thanks so much for the kind words and welcome.

I don't know how the unboxing video came out, I'll have to get it edited and will probably have it up next week.

I've taken pictures of the razors, accessories, etc., but-and I'm sorry for the newbie question-I'm not sure how to post them. The board is asking for a URL. Does this mean I have to upload the pictures to a service like Flickr, Photobucket, etc., and then get the URL? Is there another way.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! I partly blame Brian for my own OneBlade purchase Wink. I've been using it exclusively for weeks now and have been loving it!

Hi Michael.  Uploading photos is not difficult.  In the Quick Reply Box you will see three blue rectangles.  Tap the one that reads "Open Full Editor" and you'll see a toolbar appear across the top.  Now tap the black square with the 'i' in it (for imgur, the name of the program that will bring over your photo).  Select the photo you want and it should be loaded to the 'Reply' box.  I hope this helps.  If you are still having problems then please do not hesitate to ask again.

When the Collector's Edition arrived, along with some other things I ordered, it came in this very cool crate:
