Welcome to DFS Dino. I'm honored that you found my humble ramblings and that they assisted in your decision making process. I hope the OneBlade works as well for you as it has for me.

Good job.

Thanks grim. There are so many high end razors that it can get a little overwhelming. It really is a good problem to have though. Wink

This may turn into the greatest enabler thread in the history of modern wet shaving! Smile Kidding aside, Brian's journal threads across Mongoose and OneBlade are huge contributions to the community as evidenced- thanks again SharpSpine !

Thanks kwsher. I do always enjoy helping others to spend their money. Especially on items as nice as the OneBlade & Mongoose.

I know right? Lol. I'm currently enjoying my S1 with the Feather blades... Wow Smile. But this will probably be my SE when I get bored lol.

SharpSpine My OneBlade arrived Friday and I agree it is a great shaver. I can easily see it moving up to my number 1 position. I agree with your assessment made early on about the "look" of the back end of the razor with the Feather blade vs the GEM blade. The protruding back edge does not work for me aesthetically, but the blades do work for me. I never much cared for GEM blades as I find them a bit rough for my tastes, but I may try them again just from the looks department.

I know you are preferring the GEM blades over the Feather, but I was / am wondering if any of the difference you notice in the shaves is due to the Feather being a SS blade and the GEM being a carbon steel blade. I've only read the first 12 pages of your journal, but I find myself wondering if you have tried a Feather SEIKAN blade in the OneBlade. It's Feather's carbon steel version of the blades which ship from OneBlade. I am thinking about ordering some myself and giving them a go. You can easily find them on eBay.

Doug (wingdo), I never use carbon blades. I use the GEM SS PTFE (Teflon) coated blades. Carbon blades have always been terrible for me. I suggest you pick some up when you order some Feather blades from Connaught. They are much cheaper. I recently ordered 200 GEM PTFE blades from Connaught for about $35 shipped. I do suggest palm stropping the GEM blade to help them get to their sweet spot sooner and with less initial harshness on the face.

Ah, yes.  I forgot you only use the PTFE blades.  I think it is time for me to head over to Connaught as I think this OneBlade is a keeper.  Now I just need to get that $45 off with the Sharpologist coupon code without returning the OneBlade I have and ordering a new one. I personally never have issue with carbon steel blades, but I tend to change blades after use. I prefer blades which are at their peak when new.

My OneBlade showed up at my door today. My first shave with the blades it came with went great. A mild razor that gives me a BBS shave? I'm very impressed. I'm gonna use this every day for a month to really see how I feel about it....But I have a feeling this razor is THE ONE I have been looking for. Thanks SharpSpine for this thread....which I will continue to read as it's updated....the info here really sealed the deal for me purchasing this razor.

A thank you from a, shall I say, logged on lurker Wink Great journal, Brian, and I am now prepared for receiving the just ordered OneBlade -- after having been on the fence for quite some time. Obviously, one may get plenty of other shaving equipment for this amount of money, but it comes down to x number of y or z versus one OneBlade. And I chose the latter. (Let's not talk about the fact that I likely will get those ys and zs, too...)

strprswpr & halvor, thank you for reading my ramblings. I've been away and still am from my OneBlade too long. I am highly looking forward to using it again (& hopefully my DFS brush) this weekend.
