I have the Mongoose, both stainless and aluminum versions. I'd say that the stainless Mongoose is already too heavy, I really can't imagine how heavy would be the SE50. Most gentlemen disliked and sold their stainless Mongoose due to the weight of the razor and prefer the aluminum version. A razor that weights overall 155-165gr is extremely heavy. But, it has an innovative design and is less expensive than a Mongoose or a ATT SE1 razor, though the weight remains the biggest problem. If they have plans to make a lighter head made with a different material, then I'll buy it the moment it hits the market. I'll pass for now.
From what I’ve read, there are plenty of people who really enjoy their Mongoose Stainless Steel. I am one of them. I have the AlumiGoose, as well, and both razors are brilliant — but if I had to choose just one, I would go with the stainless steel version.
However, I agree that the Mongoose SS is really “up there” when it comes to weight, and I prefer to use it with a lightweight handle to keep the overall weight manageable. If the new Rocnel head is even heavier than the Mongoose SS, then … well, it is
heavy, indeed!
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
