Rocnel Group Buy- CANCELLED

No claims to marketing expertise. Other vendors selling the B&R razor (including an un-named US vendor) may limit his pricing and discounts. Un-named US vendor would be highly unhappy if DFS offered a similar razor at 15% less. While some of the delays in pricing could have a simple explanation, the delays could also have some business reasons.

A newer shaver and "group buyer", the Shavemac and Thater buys have increased their sales without impacting vendors. I also noticed LE or group buys are organized by a "friend" of the vendor. Think Gareth #1 and Gareth #2. Seygus game DFS some "pass around" razors, group buy friendly, and not carried by the un-named US vendor. From personal experience, prompt and honest response to emails.

I do hope you succeed in getting a great deal(s) for DFS members!!

All good points Standard, I would consider myself and other Gareth(aka GarRockwell) cordial business friends. I helped him tackle some PR problems in the early 6S days, and since we share the same name we have a common bond. But I'm by no means his largest customer so we'll see what we can do.
I sent him an email this afternoon to catch his thoughts on the subject. He's very good about responding so I'm sure I will hear something back by early next week.

I am still working on pricing with Rocnel, I am doing my best to negotiate a lower price. However it is proving difficult due to the small number of members able to afford this razor, which is totally understandable. Virtually no buying power here, but Murat from Rocnel has been kind enough so far and is willing to work with us.

Therefor, the titanium plating was an idea thrown into the mix along with custom engraving to make this more special to the forum, without adding to the final group buy cost. I am also working on getting a stand, we will see what happens.

I like the idea of engraving under the topcap as well. "DFS 2017" and then maybe a serial number or "LE Edition #1 of X"
I was informed this titanium B&R would be unique to DFS only. I will have Rocnel do a firm confirmation on that before we move forward. Communication is quite delayed back and forth, sometimes I don't hear back for several days before a response. If anyone has any questions I should ask please feel free to PM me.

To be honest with you if you decide to do some sort of GB for the Rockwell Model T that would be very appreciated. As the way things are its only 12% of us from the KS who applied for the SS Model T, maybe when he gets the final pricing out more will join, none the less if you can organize some sort of GB to join the all SS Model T would be very helpful.

To all those concerned, I heard back from Rocnel on Monday. Their response was as follows (I have edited out unpertinent information):

We evaluated the sales situation below the market price and did not see it as reasonable.

I think it's safe to say the Group buy for a B&R Adjustable is unattainable at this point. I truly am sorry fellas.

Blagoja Rajevski I spoke to Gareth at Rockwell and he said he can offer DFS a custom color of the Model T if we can commit to 2000 units. Highly unlikely.
We can also cerakote the SS Rockwell 6S and I assume the required number of units would be fewer. I'll keep chatting with him and see what we can come up with.

I think color coating will be hard with Rockwell because they prefer their sand blast SS metal. I'm already a backer and we every body is hoping that the SS razor wont go over board with the price increase.

If I'm on your place I would ask Gareth if he can do DFS related initials since you want to make the GB DFS only related and different than the others. Gareth is trying to keep it simple and deliver the same quality with thee SS Model T as he did with the 2nd batch of the 6S.

Just an idea if you want to make a statement as for the razor to be different than the rest then maybe you should talk to the people who are willing to go join your GB and get some quotes from the places they offer guncoat.
