If you were the one to have "broken" the handle, there would be evidence of impact somewhere near where the crack is. There is none. They don't have a leg to stand on. Unfortunate that you have to put up with this. Those aren't cheap razors. I'm glad they never got any of my money. And now they never will. Thanks for posting this.

I have to say that Rockwell has amazing customer service and they stand by there products. There lifetime warranty is only valid if you purchase from Rockwell or a approved dealer that Rockwell supplies the product too.

If you bought this from a store that Rockwell distributes there product to then you should not have a problem, but if you cannot remember the store and do not have a receipt then do not expect a replacement. I will continue to purchase from Rockwell, because they are a reputable company so to go to a web site and give them negative feedback is idiotic because if there was a website to write negative feedback on a buyer I would add you too it.

Just about every vintage from that family/era (Criterion, Bostonian, New Deluxe, NEW LC/SC has that crack on the
handle. Above or below. Seems to appear on the brass ones more altho Ive seen it even on silver ones.

It's definitely a manufacturing flaw...which is understandable when the razor cost is about a dollar or two back then.

I hadn't considered that he didn't have the receipt or knew where he bought it.  Given those two facts, you really can't fault Rockwell for not working with him.  Frankly, if you want anyone to honor a warranty, you have to be able to establish that you bought it and when and prove it.  After all, you are asking them to give you money back.  I therefore modify my previous thoughts on the subject.

This razor could be a year old and used hundreds of times and kicked across a parking lot for all they know. You’re putting them in the position of having to trust some random guy and believing that he just bought this (even though he can’t prove that) so they’ll have to replace it at their expense. There is always a certain amount of trust you have to place in customers, but this is definitely pushing the limits. If you could show that you just purchased the razor that would add a lot of credibility to your story and I imagine they would be much more likely to help you. I don’t think this is a case of bad service (except for the slow response times).
I gave you some big photos. This razor did not see water, the photo shows that the coating does not even have dried splashes after water. it's completely new. I live in Russia, I bought a razor in New York. I only stayed there for 4 days. It was a working trip, very urgent, a lot of work, a lot of business negotiations. I didn't have enough time to look around or collect checks from stores. I will be able to quit my job for a few hours to go to the bank and take a statement from my account, but I am not sure that the name of the store will be inherent in it.

Speaking of guarantee, I don't mean that I asked to send me a new razor, for me only one part having a marriage is enough. But rockwell didn't even want to answer me in the letter.

is it like a razor that's been digging the ground for a year?

This is a contradiction in terms.
If a warranty is for life, the product can also be sold between private individuals and in any case by any legally authorized dealer.
It is not for the manufacturer to ask for proof of purchase, since the warranty is linked to the product as such.
If the product is recognized as its own by the manufacturer.

The conditional is a must.
I too had some initial difficulties, just because I was Italian and not in CONUS.
I'm not talking about a specific brand, but some experiences in online commerce.

Well, most lifetime warranty's are to the person it was sold to originally.  It doesn't always transfer.  Some do.  Some don't.  It's not a given.  But even if it's a lifetime guaranty the person claiming under the warranty must establish they purchased it from a reputable dealer and when.

If the OP could remember the store he bought it at, he could call them and ask them to pull up his sale info and get a copy of the receipt.  That would greatly help his case with Rockwell.

The vintage one has fatique crack at only top or bottom of the handle, starts from the free edges.
But I haven't seen any crack in Gillette at the middle of the handle in horizontal direction.

If this were my product and you sent me those photos I would replace the razor because it certainly looks new. Having said that, your case would be lot stronger with some proof of purchase. There are only so many places that carry razors like this in NY so I bet we can figure this out. Was it Pasteur’s Pharmacy?

Thank you, sir. I have 4 razors from you, I never had questions for them, I also ordered two new traders, I was probably one of the first, since I made my order almost 1 hour earlier than the sale was announced. Order#03435
It could be a pharmacy, it was definitely not a large shopping center, with escalators and trolleys, it was a store on the ground floor of an ordinary many storey residential building, with a separate entrance.
But English is not native to me, and I had very little time, I saw products through the window and went there.
