From the various YouTube videos and other reviews I have read on social media, there seems to be two points of feedback for us to incorporate in future production runs. The biggest one will easily be something we will be able to tackle.

People complained about machining marks on the underside of the guard. As I stated somewhere else, there are machining marks all over the underside of the Ambassador and Envoy, it just so happens that they are concentric circles so they look uniform and beautiful. Unfortunately, because the safety bar of the slant dips below the plane of the guard, it cannot be turned on a lathe to create concentric circles like the Ambassador and Envoy could. So it has to be done with an end mill bit, which leaves marks that are never beautiful because they aren't concentric.

We can easily correct this with a sandblasting stage, which we will incorporate into this next batch of 500 units we are currently producing. See attached photo of 1 side "as is" and 1 side blasted.

The second point we heard about was difficulty with blade loading. It seems as though this was a problem with the minority of people, but unfortunately we heard about it too late to affect the current production run. We have to make all new fixtures for the cap to allow for longer locator tabs as we call them. This will allow for easier blade loading. Perhaps in the future, when we produce the long tab caps, they can be acquired from our website for those who want one.

I'm here for any comments or questions, and I'm glad that everyone has enjoyed the pass around.

Thank you all,

Matt

Matt,

Thanks as always for your openness, communication, and honesty. It’s great to see that in today’s business landscape.

Considering the cost, I can understand some grumbling regarding the machining marks… that however doesn’t bother me - gives it a little character. Although, I’m sure a sand blasted finish will look great.

I agree with the other concern for some difficulty with blade loading. You can end up with a very rough / abnormal shave if the blade isn’t locked / loaded in correctly before tightening down. It can be a little finicky as I’ve discovered a few times. A longer tab cap would be welcome for sure.

Overall I’m very impressed with this offering and rank it up there with some of the top modern razors in my den. Bravo.

Josh

Has anyone tried to use J strokes with the Konsul? I have a trouble spot along my jaw line the requires a bit of an advanced technique along the jaw line. Works for me with a straight bar DE - I have to take my time and be careful. I’ve never used a slant - just curious. Thank u!

Hmm no I haven’t tried that. I’ll use mine this weekend and report back to you.

Seems to work fine… I don’t often use this technique as to avoid excessive irritation, but I can say that I was unscathed after performing it last evening on a final pass before my ER shift. So I say give it a chance

Happy Shaving,

Josh

I’m looking forward to my turn with the Konsul and will definitely give it a shot. I’ve never used a slant so wasn’t sure if there were some different rules to the road for this one.  Thanks for your help.

Had my first shave with the Konsul...
Wow...just wow... used settings 4,3,2 and 5 for pickups.... such an amazing smooth shaver. Clearly one of the best shaves I have ever had. Used a wilkinson sword blade on its second use.

BBS with excellent post shave feel.

I am not a slant razor fan, dont own any and did not care so much for the ones I have tried and previously owned.
Was almost going to skip on this passaroind because it is a slant...boy...so glad I tried this...
If I do end up with a slant...this has to be it

Cant wait to use it again.
