LOL not prone to scratches more but prone to show any small scratches and dents or just regular wear from shaving. The high polish finish that high end razors have in a year of shaving with it, it will be gone and will dull more and more over time

That's why I am not a big fan of polished versions myself. Brushed looks more promising in the long run.

Yeah, I like that “industrial shine” level of polish. I’ve never had any trouble with scratches or other marks, it’s easy to keep clean, and I like the slick feel.

Same here, easy to remove scratches on a polished razor. Not so easy to remove a scratch on a brushed surface

Yup. Easy to restore a high polish.

Saving through Spending
Any thoughts on if you will every offer the Ambassador in a gold plate or any other colors?

Great job on the razor - its fantastic.  My favorite setting is 3 for the first 2 passes and then I switch down to 2 for cleanup.  Love the adjustability.  With that said, I am still pretty new to it and may play around with other settings.

Happy to hear! 3 is most people's favorite. It's what I personally aimed to make the "normal" that used to be on the N setting on Gibbs. But I was going for slightly more aggressive - but as I call it now- efficient.

Thank you!!! Really appreciate the feedback.

The finish is produced through various processes including deburring, tumbling, brush finish and some "as machined". Some parts require more and specialized processes.

Thank you for asking! We designed it in part to look and perform great with daily usage and even mild abuse.

Yes, I know the Variant top cap is plated zinc alloy, just looking for a texture/appearance reference. How about compared to what I think is a vibratory polish on the Mamba/GC? Honestly, I'd probably prefer as-machined, slick(ish) with tooling marks over media-blasted.

I would agree with you on the media blasted bit. This is done many times on cast parts to help with mold marks and to be done in semi mass quantity.

In terms of comparing it- the closest comparison would be the PILS 101NE. Razor Emporium originally imported that razor into the USA and it was an immediate success. the high grade stainless combined with CNC / brush finishing left a lasting impression.

Thx for asking!

Yes but the parts now are easier to produce and process in our shop - the result is cleaner looking parts overall IMHO.

yes and I believe they will start marking the latest batches with N1, although the N2 and N1 newest batches are exactly the same just different markings

correct

I am curious to see how chemical polishing turns out. If it isn’t successful though, a typical vibratory machine polish seems more than adequate.

We have several tumblers in house that are involved with the current finishing process. However there is always more than one way to skin a cat. We do aim to have a polished version, and I think it will be available this year.

Thx!
