Got an amazing lather for the New Lupo Dual Comb to ride thru. The Lupo is going to be a welcome addition to the den I can tell already. I like it better than the DLC Lupo I sold. The SB .95 side seemed much more forgiving and smooth than the .72 OC side. The razor does seem to drag a bit. thought the DLC coating is what caused that feel but it may be in the design and the angle that it requires to shave with that gives the drag effect and no doubt the reason the SB feels better even at a higher gap. Comparing it to the Yates razor with the H plate there is much less gap than the Yates. The Yates has the clamp point of the razor more away from the blades edge but also has more of a bend on the razor blade giving it the rigidity I prefer even at a further back clamp point. The Lupo is a narrower head design. The photo shows the comparison.

So I got a nice comfortable shave and am glad to have the Lupo in the den. After 1 shave I think the SB .95 will be my preference and may trade the .72 SB for a .95 SB but more shaves and experimentation is needed before deciding. All that said I like it but the Yates with the H and possibly the Hybrid are still my preferences. Topped with the Humphrey's and Auqa Velva which is more a Fresh Green Vetiver to my nose while the more current Vintage (Blue) and Modern are more a Fresh Aquatic to me. I enjoy them all ! Azzaro Visit is a great scent and cheap so you can use more which you need to if you wanna be "That Guy" Take care and have a great day everyone !!

LMAO, got email that the caps are back in stock....but the .72 base plates are out of stock. So predictable, hahahaha. Whatever, I won't waste time eyeballing this razor. If it's available the next time I happen to go to IB, I'll get it.

First shave with the Lupo 95 tonight. I enjoyed it a lot. Right up my alley. Quite a lot of blade feel but also very smooth. Very close shave with minimal irritation. Easy to shave against the grain.

I must say, fit / finish on these Lupos look great. How RR/IB makes these quality stainless razors at this price point is impressive.

I'll shave with the Lupo 72 this week and plan on posting more detailed thoughts on both.

Razor 1: Lupo Dual Comb .95 SB Side only
Razor 2: Yates Precision H Plate
Blade 1: Astra SP (2)
Blade 2: Wizamet (?)
Brush: Rubberset 400 Oumo Boar
Soap: Vintage Williams
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Vintage Aqua Velva
Fragrance: Nautica Blue

1st off the lather was menthol enhanced with some 444 Balm Cream that is mentholated. Great cooling Williams lather set the stage for the comparing of 2 razors.

So I wanted to do a comparison shave and please understand that these are subjective and not a perfect test as you can tend to shave more strokes where you sense you need to to get the end result you are hunting and therefore it's not a perfect test to compare efficiency. I wanted to see if both razors would get me the same end result without irritation. The result "for me" was I got an extremely close shave the way I like. The Yates is the High polished one which I feel may have increased it's efficiency some but also made it not as mindless as it was stock in stonewashed finish. I plan a head to head with both Yates H plates tomorrow to conclude my experiment. I will say that I do like "a lot" the .95 SB Lupo and it's a keeper. In fact I would like to swap the DC base plate for a .95 SB base plate if I could. Have a great day Guys !!!

I may have bought the .95 SB plate as I liked it that much... Smile

I also finally got around to shaving with my Yates H. It’s hard to really know which I prefer; and truthfully I’m keeping both! I think the .95 may have been more efficient, with the Yates H slightly more comfortable? They are both elite in both of those categories to me, and the differences could really boil down to prep or the number of uses on a blade.
