I tried both 72 SB and 95 SB for daily shave. Two pass WTG ATG.
Used GD Preshave, Sebum Gold Soap and Wizamet blades (2nd used)

I easily used 95 without any irritation for daily shave.
95 has a bit more blade feel, but both are almost equally smooth. Only 95 is more efficient, I can get BBS with less touch.
No blade chattering. I prefer 95 over 72.

Looking forward to trying the .95 as it seems it would be more to my liking of blade-forward/efficient razors. Hopefully, it will be, somewhat, as efficent as my Blackbird and Yates razors. Smile

You won’t be disappointed. For me, it’s in that upper category with those two.

For me, all three have similar characters. Shaves efficiently and doesn't feel aggressive.

AQU & CK89, thank you, both, gentlemen. I'll consider getting the .95 Lupo, at some point. Smile

Took the .95 for a spin again yesterday. With a light touch, it felt pretty smooth and I ended up with an impressive BBS and quite long lasting. Woke up with a little 5 o’clock shadow, but nothing really to shave today. To me, this razor gives a very long lasting shave, one of the longest I’ve had. Closest to it would be the Yates H or my BrassBird.

On the DC.. I did 3 passes yesterday with the .95 side, but my initial shave was first pass with the .72 OC and then 2 more with the .95. I think mixing the two sides is a better approach, as 3 passes with the .95 may have been a bit much. I’ll play more. Maybe two passes with .95 and OC cleanup would work best.

Henson Ti handle made the balance and control perfect.

Very interesting. How do the H plate and blackbird compare?

I’d have to shave a few more times with each. The H and blackbird give comparable length of shave for me. 3 passes for all razors, as I just can’t get all the hairs with two passes.

thanks very much!

After only 8 days since shipping date, I received the SS Lupo .72 SB today.  It arrived one week ahead of scheduled delivery.  This may indicate that the US Post Office may be improving after the election/holidays shipping fiasco.

My .72 SB baseplate has scalloped edges.  I have noticed in several photos, that the .72 baseplate is smooth without scallops.  Did RR make two versions of the .72 baseplate?  Does anyone know which one is the final production version or if there is a choice of SB Smooth or SB Scalloped?

If RR is viewing this thread, an explanation would be most appreciated!

By the way, the finish on this razor is the best of the RR razors in my collection.  Also, the overall fit tolerances are also much improved.  I will post a shave review after a few shaves.

Can you provide pics of either the 72 or 95 Lupo plates showing a smooth safety bar, without the scalloping? Are you sure the pics you saw were not showing the bottom side of the safety bar, which is not scalloped?

Here's mine. I doubt they would have had it done smooth and scalloped choices on this run.

OK! My bad, from your posted picture here. Thanks for the correction. Check out the .72 baseplate picture on the Italian Barber site. One side has a scalloped edge and the other side has a smooth side. It may have been a prototype baseplate. I guess we can assume that RR decided on the scalloped edge for their production version.
