The A plate wasn't any better. On the contrary it gave me a less stellar shave compared to the standard plate. As BBS mentioned before, they made the back plate wider which makes no sense at all. It's definitely not Aggressive as advertised. For me it was worse than the standard. The OC gave me the closest shave I've had from a SE for a very long time while still feeling smooth. There is more blade feel. I used a Kai Protouch MG. The OC is legit and the standard plate makes for an easy, for me efficient and smooth shave.

The more I think of it the more I believe they made a manufacturing error with the A plate or someone needs to go back to the drawing board. The standard and OC are identical in size and width. The A plate is wider. It defies all logic to me. If the width would have been identical as the other 2 plates paired with a higher gap it would have been more aggressive as intended.

Interesting. I've now used both the Normal and Aggressive plates but I didn't compare the two in appearance and size. I will say that I get a slightly more efficient shave with the Aggressive plate but not much. I'll still try the open comb plate at some point, but I recently bought a Vector and it's hard to be motivated to use anything else right now.

I had another shave with the Hawk 3 OC paired with a Schick P30 and it was just stellar. Smooth and BBS. It's definitely the best combination for the Hawk 3. I even went back to the standard plate and quickly realized how much more efficient the OC is. Considering the price I consider this a heck of a bargain.

I only use the Schick Proline blades with my Hawk V3 OC and seriously thinking about selling my Aggressive head now because it just doesn’t do anything better than the OC. For me, it’s a step down. Had an awesome shave with the V3 OC on a Timeless handle today.

There are very strong opinions here and with shaving, the YMMV is still the common rule to follow.
I have had the Hawk razors since v1.
I think they are very good.
With the v3, i opted first for the aggressive plate and later bought the OC.
There is way too much blade exposure for my liking with the OC and I didn't complete the shave with it. It is more aggressive than the Ikon MR-SE, which is as aggressive as I am willing to use.

The "aggressive" plate for me is wonderful. In fact, I like the shape better than the General (1st ver) that used to be my favorite razor.

What do l like about the "aggressive" razor? There bottom plate is huge, so it is efficient but not dangerously so. Absolutely no blade chatter, it clamps down on the blade very tightly, better than any aluminum razor that i have. Last but not least, the stainless steel is wonderfully polished which helps the razor glide with ease - something I appreciate with razorock stainless steel razors.

So there you have it, my highly subjective opinion which is every bit as just as it is wrong as any of the fine opinions above.
YMMV.

Just for the heck of it, I tried yesterday the OC plate with Kai Mild blades and same as with my usual blade, Schick Proline, it was too much aggressive (too much blade feel) for my preference.

Also, taking apart this razor when it is loaded should be done with care, when it is dry and preferably with a towel around it. It is a slippery surface and there are not many places to hold it. I was awarded a nasty cut to my thumb yesterday for not paying attention.

It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

Razorock Hawk SS V3. This is a real good shaver. It’s not heavy on blade feel nor does it need to be to perform at a high level. It’s comfy, smooth and nicely efficient. I think sometimes we get lost in the thought that if we don’t hear whisker cutting music, that a particular razor just isn’t a good performer. For some that might be the case as hair growth and thickness can determine for one through trial usage what’s their best performing razor for their needs. Other times it’s user error in employing improper technique and not giving a razor a few shaves to evaluate its pros & cons. The RR Hawk SS V3 I think gets a bit of a sour rap because users say there is no blade feel and performance is lacking.  I think it delivers a very nice shave especially when one compares it to its predecessors and a few other competitors which need not be mentioned. I like it better over the Hawk DLC as it feels smoother yet cuts more efficiently. I think it’s a great deal for anyone who wants to get in to the AC razor style format. Great quality, excellent alloy (316/316L SS) from a solid vendor who offers a tool at such an affordable price tag. Grab a plate or two and a couple of AC blade variations and it’s more than capable in giving great daily shaves....

Does anyone know the weight of the Standard head without handle?
