The email from Avi mentioned above almost makes me consider buying the razor

It's puzzling why he didn't put his press release out right away.
It's a very plausible and harmless reason.
Instead, there were folks close to him making cryptic statements like I know but I can't/won't tell....
it wasn't lack of sales, it wasn't the high price, it wasn't health issues. Which led to fuelling
speculation. It's good that he's cleared it up.

Now we get to speculate on why the delay in explanation ?

I believe many of us who purchased from Avi received the email describing the situation and announcing the closing of Raw Shaving. Unless someone tells me it’s OK to release it I believe it is not mine to release. He was fine with me posting that they were closing. I never thought so much concern would be raised as to why. Weber,Tradere and I am sure others have hit the market with fanfare and have ceased production, I don’t recall so much speculation and assumptions being made when they did.

Exactly. I got the email too but didn’t feel it was my place to air the contents of it.

And of course, why so many guys were told not to share the details while one guy had no such constraints.

To the ones who seem surprised that such a closure would attract attention, and why there was  speculation and assumption, I would say
only this:

I learned about this guy's past history a few months ago but didn't disclose it because nothing seemed untoward at the time, and it would be churlish to
rain on his parade when customers were clearly enjoying the razor he put out. I briefly considered mentioning it when he was collecting money
for his 50 titanium razors but held back because it didn't feel right.

Obviously, when I heard the company closed without explanation, and people close to the owner were being so cagey about it, the mind was racing to connect the dots.
Had someone just said 'partner problems' it would have been enough, this happens thousands of times every day. By sounding so secretive, some people created the
impression that something was being hidden and fuelled speculation even further.

Right now, we have a carefully worded press release. That's what the owner wants to say and I don't feel any need to probe further, Im satisfied with
his explanation. Time will tell whether this is the real reason or something else. One thing is for sure: nothing stays hidden for long on the Internet.

Not to go in a different direction (and probably a moot point now anyway) but was the Raw that much different than the Blackbird? Externally at least they looked very similar to me. My thought process being that if they were as similar as they looked that they would have a hard time keeping up with the Blackbirds price and availability.

Top and bottom plates of the RS-10 are concave. The RS-10 shaves a lot better although the Blackbird is an excellent razor. RS-10 is 316 stainless steel. The Blackbird is 303 stainless steel. RS-10 is on par with the Wolfman in fit and finish.

Acquired the RS-10 because of the similarity with his beloved Blackbird. But they shave completely differently. After the first shave, the RS-10 did not immediately fascinate me. He shaved every other day with a Feather blade, alternating Blackbird and RS-10. I came to the conclusion that the RS-10 shaves much softer and more comfortable. No tired skin. The blade is not felt at all during shaving, but at the same time, the efficiency is comparable with Blackbird. Shave with an aggressive stove.

My post was intended as sarcasm.
