Has anyone repainted or touched up the tip of
Their Gillette RedTip Razor , if the answer is yes
What did you use and did you have to remove
The original paint first.
All info and advice is well appreciated.
I'd like to say in advance thanks so much.

You may want to check with those reputable replating companies and ask them what paints work best for them.

When I started off restoring razors in my garage I used Rust-Oleum Satin Claret Wine. It's very close but still spray paint.

Today we have a color matched powder coat that indistinguishable from the original and is far more durable than spray paint (even if baked)

Thanks for this good info.
Do I have to remove the old paint or can it be
Painted right over it ?
That's the biggest issue I'm trying to figure out.
It looks like it might not come off very easily.

I would recommend taking it off first. You can try some goof off or paint thinner on just the tip only. Mask the rest of the handle as these chemicals can and likely will adversely affect the nickel plating.

Thx

Weekly Don’t forget to post before and after pictures. If you can someone between photos of how you’re doing it as I’m sure there are many DIYers interested

I certainly will, thanks for the reminder

I have chosen not to do mine - 80% of the paint is intact. I'm mulling over whether to have it professionally done as I don't think I could produce a result better than what I currently have. Good luck, I hope it works out for you!
