He spoke about it briefly when he announced the razor...appears to be some sort of process
that depends not on hand polishing which takes time and money, but some sort of chemical
process (electroplating?).

Im sure theres more to it than that but that's what I seem to remember.

Should be interesting. I am partial to shiny things but not apposed to anything else as long as there is no suction and it glides well.

This is how it was described in post # 273 and on his site.

"The razor will be finished using a proprietary method which is brand new to the industry, a patented process which is available from a single shop in the United States. It is electrochemical and mechanical, but uses no abrasive. It achieves the same passivation and accuracy as electropolishing, but leaves a superior surface finish, which is closer to hand polishing, but removes far less metal, and will not disturb specified tolerances. The razors will be bright and reflective, in no way dark or "matte.""

If this is a new process (never used for razors before), there could still be surprises.
Let's hope it goes well.

Sounds like it could be PEP (Plasma-electrolytic polishing).

Hello everyone. Mailchimp is scrubbing names off my purchaser list, so I decided to post a status update out here. Dtownvino also posted on B & B for me (I'm not a member there.)

Thank you so much for your purchase and for being patient with the initial launch. Machining and finishing razors can be like contracting for a renovation on a home: always a little more expensive, time consuming, and complicated than anticipated, but well worth it in the end. Quality is paramount here; these are expensive razors, and I’m being as particular as possible.

Jake shipped the remaining batch this past Friday, and they arrived yesterday evening. I have inspected them, and they are being sent off for finishing. I’m working with the finisher on getting things just right. I expect more samples this week and, with any luck, they will be right where they need to be for this razor.

Unfortunately, I can’t polish and ship in batches as hoped. The major expense in finishing is in the setup and tear down. Doing batches would double the price.  So, the razors will be done all at one time. I hope to have them returned to me by the end of the week of March 11th. This is an estimate, but a realistic one.

Finally, they need to be inspected, packed, and shipped. I promise to move as diligently as possible, but that will take a bit of time as well.

I want to thank you again for making what promises to be the most successful product launch in the history of Paradigm Razors.

Yours sincerely,

Andy Andersen

Well done. Take your time. I hope this project brings you and the brand back to the spotlight. We could use a strong Paradigm to keep the industry in check. Thanks for the update, Andy.
