The short answer to your question is yes, but not aggressively so. What I strive for in every design is a balance between efficiency and smoothness, while seeking to maximize both. The Diamondback is a significant evolution in the realization of that goal.

Shave geometry always comes down to the interaction between dimensions. Blade gap is the usual shorthand for expressing how aggressive a razor is, and the gap here is .8. The razor is medium aggressive and quite efficient.

Thanks, that sounds perfect! A slightly positive blade exposure is what I like in razors. Neutral / negative blade exposure are too mild for me.

Another question, how many of these 2020 versions will be made and is this the last run for the diamondback?

This run is 100, and I'm going to keep this model around.

After finding out about the re-release I just had to grab one. I am a huge fan of the brand and already have the 17-4, the Ti2 and the Ti SE. I am really looking forward to receiving it!

Andy Paradigm Shaveware any chance of releasing the Javelin? I was able to do a side by side of the Javelin and the original release of the Diamondback and definitely got a better shave from the Javelin. The Diamondback was smooth but the efficiency was not equal to the Javelin.

All about tradeoffs. Javelin was originally designed for aluminum, and it was great. My test shavers found it to be a little much in stainless. Most of them anyway. The blade guard is thicker on Diamondback, and you don't get the same skin stretch as on Javelin. At some point, the thinner blade guard may be revived for a light metal release.

I also prefer the javelin but the diamondback is still a very good shaver, looking forward to your next project

Where were all you Javelin fans when I was thinking of releasing the razor lol. Did you have aluminum or stainless? That design could be revived — provided it's in a light metal.
