Here's one of our two kitties... one of these pics may or may not be photoshopped, depending on the day and the mood.

She's a Demon Rex... err, I mean Devon Rex.

HighSpeed , Mike I’m sorry about Jill. I know what you’re going through and it’s hard. I try to focus on all the love and joy they brought into our lives.

She brought us more joy than we could have imagined, fighting a long fight with cancer since 2019, and wagging her tail until almost the very end.

The last few days made it clear that it was time to let her sleep - not the sleep of exhaustion, but the sleep of peace.

Jill came to us in 2013.  She turned 14 and 1/2 a week ago.    I'd wager most, if not all of you understand the sentiment that no one could have asked for a better dog.
I can't even begin to imagine ... I am so sorry for your loss. Such a beautiful dog.

Mike, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. But rest confidant that you brightened her life as well as she brightened yours. We do the best we can for them, then they're gone all too soon. It's never easy and when the memory of their passing comes flooding back the memory might be blunted due to the passage of time, but it still hurts. I think it hurts more than the loss of an adult human. Probably because they're so innocent.

My brother has never had dogs before, but a few years ago got Cairn terriers. Now he has no idea how he got along without dogs for all those years.

Sorry to hear about your loss HighSpeed . We're facing the same dilemma soon. We have a 13.5-year-old. We had an emergency visit a few weeks ago because she fell and came up lame in one leg. That's resolved, but she has a wheezy, dry cough that has been slowly getting worse for the past 6 months or so. We have a vet appointment this afternoon for some x-rays so we can figure out if it's time for her or not.

Just a shout out to Dave in KYHoosierShaveRebus KnebuscelestinoMarko, mrdougShadowsDad,  and gwsmallwood:   Many thanks to all of you for the kind and comforting words.  Thankfully, the immensity of our grief is matched by the immensity of our joy, and by knowing we loved Jill as well as she loved us.  It seems to me that's as good as life gets.  In any case, thanks again.

I'm sorry you are in that kind of situation Garrett. Good luck at the vet.
