I do too many things to list them all.

But my first and longest lasting love has been the launching of pieces of lead, sometimes copper jacketed, out of pieces of steel tube with spiral marks on the inside of the tube. I compete, or try to compete. with one that I hold in my hand.

But I can't go any further due to rules. If it wasn't for them I would openly discuss it since there's no shame in it.

I have been collecting fragrances since I was 13 years old (my big brother said it attracted the ladies, so I started early on Tongue )

Soon found out, that I enjoyed the fragrances perhaps even more so than the girls in my class, and when I was 16 years old had a collection of 50-60 full bottles of fragrances.

Then on and off, have been into fragrances ever since that.

At one stage I had almost 800 full bottles in my collection (200 niche, rest designers) and 500+ samples.

I have since that promised my girlfriend, that I will stop once my huge 5 drawer cabinet is full.
Unfortunately I have a carzy tendency to buy the larger bottles of jice, because I save in the long run - but since I will not run out of fragrances for the next 25 years anyway, it's just stupid to buy these 200 ml designer bottles and the 120 ml Creed bottles, but I can't help it.

From now on I will really try hard to only buy 50 ml bottles, for the obvious reason, that I don't need more. I use a new fragrance each day 365 days of the year and still can't even rotate them all Mad

If I use 1-2 ml a day, a 50 ml bottle will last me 40-50 years, I'm dead by then, or close to dead Angel
Yet I still continue to buy 100 ml and 200 ml bottles Confused2

But NOW I will stop, because I have found out, that if I buy 50 ml bottles instead, I can press more bottles and fragrance into my 5 way drawer, that now is 95% full of bottles (approx have 450-500 full bottles now in the drawer)

Other than fragrances I'm also into colleceting clothing and have a rather large collection.

I actually find, that fragrances is connected closely to my male grooming ritual, which consists of pre shave routine, shaving, after shaving routine ended with applying my fragrance du jour.

ShadowDad and Cincinattus,

Like you two, I love firearms. I love the Second Amendment and am a card carrying lifetime member of the NRA. I'll also say that I'm glad firearms aren't discussed here.

The reason I'm glad it isn't discussed here is because firearms have been pulled into our political institutions, which means there are many lies told from both sides, especially related to gun control. Because of this; gun control, and thus firearms, have become topics like abortion or politics where folks have very strong feelings on both sides.

This is a great forum where we all come to have fun and enjoy ourselves. Fighting and bickering doesn't happen that much here. I would like to see it stay this way.

Also, not long ago I did a Google search on something wet shaving related - horse hair shaving brushes or something. One of the hits took me to another wet shaving forum, whose behavior probably generated the few rules here, and the post that opened was a post selling a magazine for a modern pistol. I remember thinking that seemed a bit odd on on a wet shaving forum.

It also led me to believe this topic may have caused trouble on another wet shaving forum, which is why that rule is here.

Are they still in good shape? I have frags here in my cabinet that I am thinking of selling or giving away, they are still in their boxes. I am a bit worried that they will lose the scent or turn bad after a few years.

Aurelian28 , churchilllafemme has experience with older scents. Here is is a thread where he addressed this: https://damnfineshave.com/thread-old-old...ld%2Bspice

Here's the verbiage from his post:

"I'd suggest using it. However, these old aftershaves can develop a precipitate that appears as black particles. If you see any of those in your hand when you pour it, filter the aftershave in the decanter through a coffee filter into a bowl. Rinse out the empty decanter with distilled water. Then pour the aftershave from the bowl back into the decanter, using a funnel if necessary."

Claus - you defined a hobby. Buying things you don't need but would like to have even though you already have numerous examples of the same thing. Wink

It really comes down to what makes you happy. Enjoy your fantastic collection!

If you store your fragrances outside in the light and even worse in the cabinet in the bathroom/toilet room, fragrances can turn bad rather fast, 3-6-12 months time.

On the other hand I also know for a fact, that people (especially Basenote overthinkers and over worriers) exaggerate this highly.

I gave 20 full bottles of after shave to my dad, 15+ years ago, and they have since then been stores in the bathroom, and when I smell some of them today, they still smell fresh, wonderfull and awesome.

But I hope, that storing my fragrance in a white huge drawer (white is the colour that attracts heat the least) in a dark and coll place, my fragrances will last me many many years.

I only have a three fragrances that I don't really wear because I really just use the aftershave splash. Two of them I know are at least 30 years old and the other is at least 20 years old and they still smell fine. Storing them away from heat and out of direct sunlight is definitely a plus.
