Shave Report - Day #3
As much as one can love an inanimate object I think I might love the OneBlade.
Third shave with it this morning and it was a sheer pleasure to use. The result, after my usual two passes, was one of the closest and smoothest I think I've experienced this year.
This was btw using the same blade for the third time so I have little qualms about using it for the fourth shave as well.
Razors and blades are as we all know, highly subjective but to me this has been a fantastic combination resulting in what might end up being my 'razor of the year'.
Is it all good then?
No, I still don't like how I extract the blade. Every time I do so (and I do it after every shave) I worry about damage it and that aspect/design of the razor feels a bit in contrast to how well thought out the rest of the razor is.
Also, I noticed that my razor's head has a slight 3mm-or-so 'play' allowing the head to move laterally a bit. Now, this doesn't effect the shave in any way of course but it's still something I noticed. On the upside - I contacted OneBlade both via email and Twitter and their CS came back to me w/in hours on both plat forms - on December 23rd - informing me that if I was in any way concerned they will have it taken in and inspected and repaired/replaced.
Anyway, very, very impressed and thrilled I was able to get one of these when the discount code applied. A very solid, efficient and enjoyable razor.
Merry Christmas to you all!!
Shave Report Day # 4
Another really stellar shave with the razor this afternoon.
It was the fourth time using the same blade and maybe it was my imagination and/or me actively trying to feel if it was getting more dull but at the end of the shave it felt as if it didn't quite have the same smoothness as the previous shaves. It might be that, for me at least, this is a four-shave blade which quite honestly isn't bad at all.
Hey guys,
First post. I've been shaving with a Mach 3 razor all my life and have decided to splurge and buy the OneBlade. Wish I could have gotten the Holiday deal but, oh well...
I do have a question regarding the blades. The initial unboxing photos and the write-ups about them show the FHS-5 blades. All the current unboxing photos show that the blades are labeled "10" and, I'm assuming, are the FHS-10 blades. The links to OneBlade razors at BlueGoose and Connaught are also labeled as "10." The Connaught link to FHS-5 also no longer works.
Maybe this is self-explanatory for people "in the know," but why the change from 5 to 10. What does FHS stand for and what do the 5 and the 10 numbers mean?
Thanks a lot!
Scott

scottk, these blades used to come in packs of 5, but recently Feather repackaged them in packs of 10. This is the 5 vs 10. Same blade, just different quantity per box.
I'm not sure on what FHS stands for but my guess is Feather Hi-Stainless.

FHS = Feather High Stainless
The number is the amount of blades in the box.
Feather stopped selling these blades in the five pack some months ago. Now, they are selling in packs of 10, but it is the same blade. So no worries there...
And last but not least, welcome to damn fine shave!
You are in for a real treat with the OneBlade! Congratulations!

Did Feather ever stop using excessive glue in packaging those blades. I remember using them for my Auto-Valet and stopped just because of that. Each blade came with enough glue in the wrapper to spackle every nail hole in your house. Total PITA, Made Astra's glue wrapping look like a pittance in comparison.
