Len  Well thought out discussion, you put a lot of work into this thought process.

One would think the use of the single blade might hamper sales but my conclusion has always been that the target demographics for this product means that in general, the consumer doesn't really care about the price per blade. As you say, its pennies.

You'd think the engineers who built the razor would know someone would figure out how to use other blades. The only thing I would fear for them is that if someone seriously cut themselves using a blade not designed for the razor, I wonder if they leave themselves upon to a lawsuit. I have no idea.

Good job. I guess I got to go buy some gem blades and try it.

I voted feather only, and I have 260+ of them, because I can't be bothered to modify another blade.

YMMV

There you go again with the claim that Gem blades are "dangerous". They are NOT dangerous. Stop misleading people. I've been shaving with these for the last month or better and have never had so much as a weeper! I attribute it to user error, that's all I can come up with. Either that or you got some bunk blades.

Now, I'm not trying to start anything. This was a well thought out post which obviously required some time and effort. I commend you for that, but just because you cut yourself up while a Gem blade was in the razor doesn't make it more dangerous than any other razor blade. That coupled with the fact that the OneBlade is supposed to be the most forgiving razor out there, it kind of makes me wonder...

All blades on your skin are dangerous, some more than others. The GEM is more dangerous, and rough, for me, than the Feather.

As you have never tried either a OneBlade or a Feather FHS, I'm not sure what else you can contribute to this thread. Calling my shared experience 'misleading', against blades and razors you've never even tried, is just another incident of trolling.

Len, I know you said that, but I don't remember that being a distinction straight from OneBlade. I can read your post but I think you took a big liberty there. I just re-read the story from OneBlade and they never said that the other blade was coated.

You are correct, Brian, OneBlade never states their picture is of the PTFE. I make this presumption based on the reasons stated (limited blade options) and my own personal experience. This picture could certainly be of another blade, but the comments from the OneBlade founder concerning every other blade's (other than Feather) imperfections in the edges in their testing, is documented.

Still, you ruin an otherwise well written review with some large assumptions. Seems par for the course lately.

Brian, I stated it was a presumption in the review, and a well reasoned one. I never stated my presumption as fact, and I'm sorry you don't appreciate reasoned guesses (hypotheses, theories, etc.).

What is not a presumption is the first picture showing the perfectly smooth Feather FHS leading edge... Hope that helps, to see in microscopic analysis, what you get from experience in shaving with the Feather FHS. Wink

Then you should have no qualms with me calling out your veiled attacks. What you consider well reasoned I see as pure marketing & it could just as easily be a hardware blade in that picture. To put together such a fair & objective review otherwise makes this all laughable that you persist on even trying to intimate that it is a PTFE blade.

Still, as I said those microscopic pics mean nothing to me. Their supposed superiority at the edge just causes me irritation & doesn't hold up well in use.

Attacks, Brian? You call my review "ruined" because I add a picture compared to the FHS that "might be" the PTFE. If you think OneBlade chose to test hardware blades, and claim their testing is all BS marketing, I think your presumptive attacks on OneBlade are on you to prove.

If you feel "attacked" that I prefer the Feather in my testing, I'm not sure what to tell you. But I'd certainly be willing to offer a hug if that would make you feel better. Heart
