yeah, just checked their website policies...the $99 fee sucks. here's the policy:

Because the items offered on our website are consumable products that can’t be resold after use, we can only offer a full refund within 30 days if nothing has been opened. If you’ve received a OneBlade Razor that you’ve used and would like to make a return, we do offer money-back within the first 30 days of purchase, however a $99 charge will apply. We simply ask that you return the razor, stand, and leather carrying case back to us at our expense (for international orders, we do not cover or reimburse any costs related to return shipping, duties, or taxes.)

To initiate a refund contact us at info@onebladeshave.com within 30 days of purchase. You will be instructed on how to return the product. Once your return is received and inspected, we will send an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment within 1-3 business days.

not sure why it cannot be sterilized and sold as a used razor?!

So if I understand this correctly, oneblade effectively says, "we know you'll like our razor so much, that we'll guarantee your money back in 30 days if you don't like it."

"But if you actually use the razor to find out if you like it, we'll only give you half (or 2/3) your money back."

That is messed up, deceptive and alarming all at once.

Not much of a guarantee, especially since they are probably still turning a small profit on the $99 they keep from a returned razor. It is like selling the razor for $99 and then getting the used razor back as well.

The founder of OneBlade had significant trouble with the Securities Exchange Commission for allegedly defrauding investors according to Wikipedia. Due to this, I'm not surprised by things like the money back guarantee that really isn't a money back guarantee.

It looks to me like they had exclusive distribution for the blades in the US for a while. I say this because I couldn't find anyone else selling them in the US. There were plenty of companies in England selling them, though couldn't export to the US.

In short, I personally don't trust them. Having said that, the razor is awesome. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by failing to use an awesome product. Having said that, I have no loyalty whatever.

That $99 is truly a pretty heavy “restocking” fee, and kind of a lousy offer altogether, from a consumer standpoint. Somehow Above the Tie and Timeless can do full refunds within 30 days.

What also baffles me is what brothers said in this post from April. I wonder if OneBlade has changed their policy since?

I will repeat here what I wrote in the original oneblade thread regarding the company ...

To those [who find the company having a shady background], I submit find a single major corporation where that corporation has not paid a civil fine to a government. Whether it be any car maker (I tend to use car analogies because most everyone owns or drives cars) or even the computer you are typing on. Even Intel has paid civil fines to the EU. So I find those kind of arguments as a reason to not buy this hypocritical. Consumers might not know that P&G or General Motors has paid fines but nevertheless, they do.

Or put another way. You won't be buying about ANY car, nor buying anything from Intel, P&G, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, or just read this list  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_la...ettlements. Just look at that list including criminal and fraud.

Billions in fines paid to governments for breaking laws, not to mention VW who alone is paying $18 BILLION.

You can't type using an Intel chip, Use an Apple product, drive about any car, .... the list is endless. Picking on this one company, without also not dealing with all the other companies where the corporate officers have also broken laws would be hypocritical IMO.

Sorry this isnt true in that other DO sell feathers as I explained in the Oneblade thread. Recently Maggards had at least 100 packs in stock. I know because I bought some. Try a blade (the recent AMA) has them in stock TODAY. http://tryablade.com/blade/feather-fhs-1...edge-blade $3 shipping, all you want. Bullgoose was selling them by the case at one time and 10 at a time but not sure about Bullgoose anymore.

Maggard's doesn't have them now. Bull Goose doesn't have them now. Tryablade has them, though with shipping they are more than getting them from OneBlade. You counter to my point is weak at best. That aside, If you had read what I actually wrote, you would have seen that I wasn't speaking in absolutes.

Your assertions regarding the integrity of the founder don't address my point. If you had read what I actually wrote, you would have seen that your counter to my point is on a different subject. You round out your incorrect reading of what I wrote by inferring that I'm a hypocrite, which is offensive.

I merely stated that this is a company you have to keep an eye on and backed my argument with valid points, such as what the so called 'money back guarantee' really means. I would do the same thing about any company who I have found to behave badly. I do this on an almost daily basis when speaking with customers about some of the providers that I represent. Help me understand how that is hypocritical.

What i said was if anyone is worried about the integrity of the company due to past failings of the officers, then they should be looking at EVERY company and I said that long before you were here. It was not directed to you, you weren't even a member. It was directed to the general hypocrisy of those who cried "watch out - bad ceo" without even knowing that about every major company they deal with probably have paid civil fines. These people were looking for reasons to decry the oneblade from Day One with a multitude of excuse including "its too easy to use".... boo hoo. So now that VW has admitted to defrauding the US government I hope that means no one will ever again buy any VW branded car which includes about 9 different brands? Or a GM car because they alledgely knew about ignition faults that led to deaths? Or Ford who put a few dollar price on a part knowing it would be cheaper to payout a lawsuit than fix their Pintos?  It happens ALL THE TIME. I would certainly call GM, Ford, and VW has "questionable" dealings and paid HUGE fines. And lives were involved. People died. If you don't buy from companies with questionable business dealings, then it would seem you can't buy any car as they pay Billions in fines and allegedly caused people to die.

How many people in the public even know or care one bit about the fines companies pay? For the most part, they have no idea about the fraud, kickback, or whatever  else these fines were for. This is no different. It was nothing more than a tool for the naysayers to say something negative about the company. The "watchout for the CEO" line has gotten old. Its no different than about any company that has paid FAR more in fines.

Its not hypocritcal to look out for these companies. I didn't mean to imply that. Rather, do the same for EVERY company who has paid a fine. And that means you probably will spend your life doing research because you can't buy a car, a computer, or many consumer products.

You could ask try a blade at their AMA but they sold in 5 packs,  not the 10 packs from one blade. I don't knowtheir source but its a different package. Maggards stock comes and goes. It will likely be back. I posted here in July https://damnfineshave.com/thread-your-th...7#pid73847

If you want some FHS-10 Feathers, Maggards has some in stock NOW. I expect they will be sold out in a few days.


They had maybe 100 packs and sold out in about a week. If they weren't getting more, I doubt they would keep up the ad. They are very good about showing customers the exact inventory and you knew exactly, day by day, how many were available - excellent customer service. Put your name on their mailing list and they tell you when they are in stock. You don't go actively looking for stock. Let them tell you when its in stock. Bullgoose, I'm not sure about.

Perhaps you are looking for a reliable and consistent supply. Thats a simple answer. You don't buy a couple of pack, you buy a case of 240 and don't worry about it for a year. When you get low, then do it again. Good luck. Or buy them from Gifts and Care. You get a 10% discount here.

I have bought sets of 240 blades twice from Connaught shaving. Despite the disclaimer stating not to order them unless you are in the U.K., I've had zero issue ordering them for shipping to the US.

While I am not happy that it appears OneBlade has exclusive rights to sell the Feather blade in the US, exclusive deals happen all the time in so many different businesses. I ordered a second pack of 240 blades when the pound crashed against the dollar right after Brexit. I ended up paying 39 cents a blade including shipping. Look around, they are available.

I'm fairly sure that they used to accept returns without any fees, as noted above. in fact, I was seriously considering buying the razor to try it out just for that simple fact alone, but because the company was so new and I hadn't known anyone who tried it and sent it back, I wasn't sure what type of hassles or hoops one would have to go through to get a successful return if they didn't like the razor.
