New CORE razor from OneBlade

Dinder1 ,  My thought is that the razor can be carried in your hand luggage, no problem. It's the blades that will trigger the alarm and you will get them confiscated. It surprises me that you made it through the security check with a pack of injector blades. Perhaps it didn't look like a blade pack through the X-rays, but if I'm not mistaken, those shouldn't be allowed on board planes... heck, I got my tiny scissors confiscated at Heathrow. They were the typical travel bag scissors we use for hair trimming, and with a round tip.

Had they offered an entry level OB from the beginning, it would have sold like hot cake, but who knows if they just didn't have the resources to do so. The fact is that the new razor is there and I'll keep a watchful eye on it.

Ha, you are right and I'm sure my injector razor is not TSA approved.  I don't carry on extra blades though, just one new blade loaded into my razor. I'll knock on wood now as I'm traveling this week and now that I've opened my mouth I'll probably get busted.

The basically admitted that the OB wasn't accessible (read to much $$$) to the average Joe.

Another thing that somehow bothers me is the fact that they're offering this "entry level" razor now, and not from the beginning. Perhaps it has to do with low sales, but if they deliberately looked down on the average wet shaver and targeted the "high end" user, unsuccessfully... would I be buying their product now?.

I'll have to think it twice, I guess.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to produce a state-of-the-art, pure stainless, wonderfully presented razor at a premium price. It's why Mercedes makes their S class and Maybachs.

It's just that as the S class is out of many people's budget, an E class, which gives the Mercedes experience, but not all the luxury and bells and whistles, gives a more affordable alternative. Yet it still has provides the pride of owning a Mercedes, and is, I hear, a great car.

Just as Wolfman made a Guerrilla which is machined and not polished, Charcoal Goods gave a bead-blasted stainless, now OneBlade is providing a plastic (with stainless core) more affordable alternative. This way, those who are not in the market for a high-end razor can still get a Wolfman, Charcoal, or OneBlade without the big price tag.

Yes, the marketing strategies of Wolfman, Charcoal Goods and OneBlade are fascinating. As is Mercedes. Common sense may suggest that building a large following with affordable products before launching luxury items is the right thing, but that may not be the right approach. I'm not a marketing guy, but all four built luxury brands that can be exploited among the non-luxury markets.

I think the company is doing just fine and is now comfortable enough to expand on their initial investment and now double their revenue stream. I'm more than pleased with my v1 and only went for this one because the cost was so accessible. This "floating blade" technology which they claim increases both the mildness and the efficiency is intriguing and something I want to experience.

Time will tell and at least now more people will have the opportunity to experience it themselves and share their own opinions.

Being positive I love the weight. Gillette pumped out millions of razors in this weight range. I don't need to shave with a brick or a quill. Not too light or heavy. The Tritan polymer material is the same as Glock guns so will most likely outlast all of us. The screw & pin material (controlling pivot) is the same stainless steel as the original.

Everything points to this razor being really well built with the same exact shave as the initial model.

I've read a lot of "oh, but it's plastic" comments. The stainless steel craze has gotten a bit ridiculous these days. My Italian Brass Fatip Testina Gentile shaves rings around my "stainless" Wolfman SB.
