New Concept - Variable weight & balance point razor handle.

Too complicated, too many parts, not a necessity for most traditional wet shavers.  I suspect it will require a screw driver to insert the plugs.  The price for all of this would likely be more than the cost of most competitive handles, currently on the market.  Does this new handle also have an adjustable length, to really make it exotic?  I would tell your engineer to stick with race cars.  Good luck.

I think my co-designer knows a thing or two about this subject and Carbon shaving seemed pretty happy with his design ideas, the one with the carbon fibre tube for example, This was/is a very successful handle. his idea. He has also seeded ideas to a couple of other manufacturers - all of whom seem happy with them. 

I am delighted that he chooses to work with me now - truly delighted.

I don’t think dropping other manufacturers names like this buys you or him credibility. 

I think a design stands on its own merits.

What concerns me is the cost of the
actual materialization .
Ideally it should be kept within a reasonable
retail price range,because only few shavers can justify to themselves a handle that costs
far more than a complete razor.
And that is the most difficult part of this attempt.
Nevertheless ,a great idea.

Steve, I wouldn't be in the market for a handle such as this, but you've confirmed my belief as to whom your engineer is. He is highly experienced and have no doubt the final design will serve its purpose well.

Interesting. Am I wrong or does the razor have to be disassembled to move the internal weight? That would be a bit of a pita. It would be cool if you could move the weight up or down mid shave with minimal down time. Maybe it could be accomplished with magnets. 

From where I’m standing, however, this looks like a solution searching for a problem. But then, what do I know?  Good luck.

I think ,by studying the blueprints provided by
Vlasta,that the endless screw principle is used
to move the internal weight.The adjusting knob is cited at the bottom of the handle.
So,the adjustment of the center of balance does not require disassembling the handle from the head,but it can be done while shaving.
Humble me thinks that this is going to be
a rather revolutionary step of evolution ,
regarding the double edge razors .
Why ?
Because it's the razor blade that actually does the cutting of the facial hairs.
And since the sharpness and the smoothness
vary among different brands /types of blades ,
having the ability to adjust the center of balance of the razor ,will have a rather big impact on the shaving experience .

With smoother blades the shaver can adjust
the razor to be head-heavy ,while with sharper blades the shaver can move the center of balance  towards lower at the handle.

Thing is that there are couple of issues that need to be addressed and solved .
For example ,all stainless steel parts have
issues with friction between them ( i.e.
galling ) and special threads have to be used
(i.e. square or ACME threads ) and/or the presence of constant lubrication .

I do like the idea of a moving balance weight if it can be adjusted with the turn of the handle.  It is true that the Carbon handle with the carbon fiber center is a remarkable handle, due to it's incredible light weight.  That said, some shavers like short handles, and others prefer longer handles.  Unless the handle length is adjustable, it would need to be offered in several lengths to appeal to a broader audience, since this will be a niche product within a small market base.  Also, be careful of dissimilar metals and avoidable corrosion issues.  I agree with Stephanos, that this idea can be beneficial to those who can correlate the blade, angle and balance effect on both smoothness and efficiency while shaving.  That includes most shaving enthusiasts, but excludes the majority of traditional wet shavers, who put price and simplicity ahead of "the experience".
