Pretty sure it just came up in conversation or I was asked specifically. I'm definitely not picking and choosing which forums to share information to. Formal updates and info always flow from the newsletter and social media directly. I try to keep the forums somewhat up to speed, but it's not really feasible to go around to make sure all the forums get the same info at the same time.

Nope, not asked directly and nearly 2 weeks ago (May 20th) you clearly stated you were going to miss the May release. That would have been a good time for an email to everyone perhaps. Hey, I'm sure your busy, no worries.

Ok. Enough about the announcement. Someone lock Shane back in the dungeon... I mean warehouse. We need us some new razors.

Seriously, I hope all is going well. Looks like it from the email that went out today. Darn close to done, and that's good.

Blackland Razors . We appreciate the time you take to engage with us in meaningful dialogue.  There are only a handful of artisans investing this kind of time with a full schedule and we hope to show our appreciation in sales when this drops.

Amber74 From the email sent to those who sign up on the Blackland Razors website:

Hard Things Take Time

As you may have noticed, the Era did not launch in May as we had hoped for. But that's okay! Hard things take time and we're not going to rush something to market if it's not 100% perfect. We're taking the necessary time to tidy up the final loose strings on production. The honest reality is that we've never produced a product with such a complicated production cycle or on such a large scale so predicting exact dates is difficult and imprecise. At this stage, a June release is likely, but this is simply an estimate and is subject to change. Once an official release is determined we will make that announcement via email newsletter and social media.
[font=Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif][font=Helvetica]The priority is releasing a perfect razor. The timeline is far less important.

Era production is going extremely well. Nearly all the printed and lathe-turned parts are complete and undergoing strict quality checks along the way to ensure that they are exactly what we're looking for. Frankly, we are blown away by the quality of the production parts and they even surpass the pre-production samples which were already quite nice. Right now all the parts are receiving the black finish. Once the finish has been applied and passes quality these razors will be fully complete.

Packaging is also largely finished and will be ready to go by the time the finish is complete. And finally, we are getting things ready on our side to ensure that the new website we're building will be ready to handle the Era when it goes live. Fulfillment is also being streamlined and beefed up to help handle the expected demand.

Now is a good time to discuss the launch. We've spent the last 18+ months working on a production strategy and we are highly confident that it can scale adequately to meet demand without sacrificing quality. However, the reality is that nobody has made a product quite like this before. So rather than bite off more than we're sure we can chew, we're going to take the responsible route and artificially limit production for the first three months. We're calling this period the Soft Launch and it will allow us to responsibly increase production in planned stages until we are 100% confident that we can produce and fulfill Era orders at the scale required to meet demand. This means that for the first three months the Era will be released in limited drops and is likely to sell out. Additionally, not all base plates or accessories will be equally available so it’s possible that you may not initially be able to get everything you want with your Era. We are confident that the Soft Launch is the best approach for the long-term success of the Era, but in the short term it means that there will some disappointment as not everyone will be able to get the Era. Please be patient during this period because once the Soft Launch is complete we’ll be full-throttle on production to ensure that we’re able to meet any and all demand.

As we near the launch, we'll be sharing more updates, announcements, and details including base plate aggressiveness and pricing. Reviews will also be released prior to launch. Make sure you follow us on Instagram and Facebook @blacklandrazors so you get everything.

When it was revealed that the Era would be entirely different, and the mechanism of its production, etc., I remember asking how long it would be between that announcement and the release of the razor. I’m no expert in marketing or in sales, but it seemed to me that if that time ended up being longer than about two weeks it would mean that the announcement was made too soon. I stand by that opinion, and I think the plethora of posts in this thread of people “waiting” in various ways just underscores the point.

Don’t get me wrong; I think this razor is still going to be a huge success and that Shane is going to sell boatloads of them, and I hope he does. But I really think Blackland missed the boat when it comes to understanding human nature. Don’t make the announcement until you are about ready to deliver the product. People these days don’t have long memories and they don’t have any semblance of patience.
