Blackland Razors, how much are you betting on "impossible to clog"? 6 pack on you if I clog it? I drink expensive German wheats, by the way!

I'm not sure anything could be clog 'proof', and I definitely wouldn't blame a razor, unless it is excessive sensitive / prone. It sounds like he did take care to look for anything that would bottle-neck and cause clogging? Speaking of bottle...

Maybe for an opening release special, we can get a 6-pack of German Weisse with every purchase? Lol! I love me some traditional wheat ales too, though I don't buy the most expensive (I gravitate towards Hacker-Pschorr Weisse or Paulaner).

As I posted in the announcement thread, I'm shocked. Era is a great name for a new 'Era' of innovation and production.

Like others stated, I don't need a new razor. I will, however, be in line to buy one at release. Hopefully Multiple plates will be an option at checkout.

This thread brings up a question / concern... Will there be ample supply come release? I'm dreading a Wolfy type list. Prayers said, fingers crossed, rabbits foot in hand.

Shane mentioned that supply might be limited at first, but eventually the aim is to have them stocked full time.

3D printing is the way to go but the shop must have good equipment. I have had about 6 razors made out of various plastics and metal was an option however, just making one razor cost a small fortune. Congratulations Shane you sure had me fooled but this is very exciting.

Right. That’s the trick. It’s a new form of 3D printing designed for mass production of small parts to be cost competitive with MIM. Normal printing is outrageously expensive, far more than CNC. Here we’re less than half the cost of CNC and far more scalable.

Anybody else get the feeling that with 10 base plate options (between SB and OC) this is going to be one of the new “reference point razors.” You all know those posts that go along the lines of “is this more or less aggressive than a Slim on 4” or “I really like my Karve C plate and I’m looking for something similar”. We may be entering a new ERA with this razor.

This looks interesting, except for the covered blade tabs. It’s a good price point for a travel razor as well. You still get a nice SS razor, but it won’t break the bank if you have to replace it. I think I will like that you didn’t make the handle fully solid. I like to feel a little left in my razors, but it gets to a point where it’s too much.

I also appreciate that while others are making limited run razors at higher prices, you are looking for ways to make them more available and cheaper. I think that’s a better long term business strategy as well. I like getting new razors, but I have more than enough, and I’m at the point where I don’t need to a new razor and there’s only so much I’m willing to spend on something I don’t need. I think the longer people shave with safety razors, they start getting to the point where it’s not as exciting, so the manufactures that work on limited releases will start seeing declines in sales.

Yea I really don’t believe that $300+ or even $200 razors are the future and it’s certainly not where the big business opportunities are. I’ve always wanted to get the quality of a $200 razor at under $80 and this gets us there without sacrificing a single thing. The Era is actually a lot more capable than CNC razors with the same tolerances and mechanical properties at $75. We’ll also be able to scale to match whatever demand is thrown our way once we open the flood gates. It’s a no-brainer.

I have been following this thread with great interest. Shane I really enjoyed listening to the podcast. It was easy to see your passion about the project. The new Era sounds fantastic. I like that it will be an affordable option and made in America. I will certainly be getting an Era razor when they are available.

I'm with Dayman ... A full SS can get heavy for me. The hollow handle is very nice and refreshing. Since it's steel, we know it'll still be plenty strong, even this way. Fatip did it for decades(?) With their original coated brass handles.
