Murphy and McNeil soaps

I'm curious how much/what difference is noticed between the duck fat vs non duck fat base. Anyone with experience with both please chime in!

I have a duck fat and two beef tallow soaps. The two bases are excellent and I find almost unnoticeable difference between the duck and the beef. For sure get a duck soap if you can but don’t hesitate to get a beef soap.

The duck fat formula is ever so slightly better. Where I notice it most is in the lather texture and post shave. The beef tallow formula makes a beautiful sour cream like lather that leaves the face very moisturized (like as if one had used lotion). The duck fat makes a similar lather, but it has a slightly lighter almost sheer feel to it while still maintaining the sour cream appearance. Moisture off the soap feels deeper, more even and less lotiony. Kind of hard to describe, but duck fat feels more effortless in delivering luxury face feel.

I’m sad that I missed the Eisteacht version of Náid, as I really enjoy that scent. Top of the Chain seems to still have it in stock, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it to pay the extra just to get the duck fat version shipped from Canada back to the U.S.

Perhaps I’ll wait to see what the next Eisteacht soap is after Claddagh.

Carmine still has the Naid Eisteach as you’ve said, and Claddagh coming soon and then there’s pre-order on Slainte which is an oatmeal stout scent with mutton, beef and duck tallows. I’m not sure I’m a fan of that scent though, I have a Shaver Heaven in oatmeal stout and while interesting, I don’t find that I’m reaching for it.

I’ve seen some great reviews from those who got in on the first batch of Slainte, but I always figured that one may not be for me. A while back, I had a sample of Mystic Water Soap’s Oatmeal Stout, and while the scent was finely crafted, it also made me feel like I was using a bowl of my breakfast to shave with…

I blame everyone in this thread(especially Marko   ) and Ruds!  What a bunch of enablers you all are that you've broken down any semblance of self control I had for almost a year.

I ordered Murphy and McNeil murphyandmcneil Eisteacht: Claddagh Shaving Soap for a Cause.  The shave reports by HighSpeed really got me fired up!  Sadly, due to a new (and temporary, I hope) work schedule, I will not be able to pick this soap up from my PO Box until probably Friday.     The shipping looks to be very quick.  I ordered in the wee hours of Friday morning and USPS tracking system the soap should be here by tomorrow.  Maybe even today!

I'm really looking forward to Maggard stocking these, now I just have to decide on the scent to try.

This morning while shaving with Bad Mor I thought to myself “I could do with all of them” I’m trying to be strong. So far I’m still at three.
