LOL Marko! I've used one of those hand burr grinders and it is indeed quite grating. Still, the sound can awaken just as easily as a cup of joe Big Grin.

It is really good over here, and the artisan market has really gone wild it's great. A bag like that though is about £7.50 which is not cheap but also not bad.

Tommorow I will receive a sizeable order from La Colombe.  They roast to order, my favorite being the bourbon variety from anywhere in South America (especially Guatemala).

I like espresso, though in Italy we rarely call it that way, we just say caffè (coffee). We don't know the terms "latte" that US citizens use (latte which just means milk), or "double".

I recently acquired a new coffe machine, with an integrated grinder, it's a Lelit. At first I had a hard time trying to brew a good coffee from it, but after a week I discovered all the tricks Smile

That machine is a beauty - I have a Brasilia machine which is a little more basic than yours - no grinder but it can make a very nice coffee. Theres no doubt, when you have a good machine and good beans and you've mastered your technique then you might just drink a little more coffee than you ought to now and then.

I don't know if this thread is the right place to put this tale of dismal failure or not. After reading about how cold-brewed coffee is supposed to be smoother than the regular hot-brewed type and better for making iced coffee, I tried making some. I followed a generic online recipe, using a pound of freshly coarse-ground dark roast beans and 10 cups of filtered water, mixed in a one gallon bottle and allowed to sit at room temperature for 16 hours. This mix was then filtered once through a wire strainer and then twice through coffee filters. The end result: a coffee concentrate which, when diluted with an equal volume of cold water and poured over ice cubes, made iced coffee that is NO BETTER than iced coffee made with the regularly brewed stuff that has been allowed to cool.
Oh well. Another educational experience.
