live music - who do you like to see?

I love live music. I went to see the goo goo dolls 2 weeks ago in Atlantic City....they were simply incredible! they packed in 25 songs in about 1h30m - 1h40m!

I saw zac brown band 2x over the past 5-7 years and they're also incredible.

I'm hoping to check out these bands live over the next few years:

green day
blink 182
three days grace
matchbox twenty
simple plan
five for fighting


goo goo dolls are touring with matchbox twenty in Australia and New Zealand in 2024, I believe. if they make it over to the USA with that tour, I'm 100% in.

My last two shows were The Mavericks and John Petrucci. Vastly different as genres go, but both equally exceptional!

My wife got us last minute tickets to see Barbara Streisand when she played TD Garden in Boston. Big venue, but it felt intimate. Being a rock guy, I went to support my wife and ended up loving that concert!

Rush put on phenomenal shows when they came back in 2002/2003 after a hiatus due to tragedy in one of their lives. Shows were tight, beautiful in staging, and around 3 hours of music.

I wish I could have seen the original line up of Kansas, or Cheap Trick. Who of my vintage didn't have "At Budokan" at home? Live albums never got any better than that!

Just saw Santana in concert. Great show. The wife and I lucked out to get great seats when he played in Springfield MA. That was fun!

We also recently saw Tears for Fears in CT. I was skeptical at first, but my wife made an awesome choice. It was absolutely fantastic. Roland still has such an impressive range to his voice.

Next weekend I'll also get to see Enter the Haggis, as they come to the capital district Scottish games. Although obscure, they are one of my favorite bands. Worth a listen, if you've never heard them.

Zac Brown Band  a few years back was my last concert - hearing loss (distortion etc) has made the concert experience unpleasant to painful unfortunately.  Zac Brown Band was awesome though  - really liked their metal set.  Enter Sandman.  David Bowie Serious Moonlight tour in 1984 was amazing - big fan.  Saw Jimmy Buffett at the MGM Grand a few years back.  A lot of fun but not as good as when I saw him live at the Missoula Fieldhouse in 1979.  Eagles Hotel California tour was amazing. Am I dating myself yet?    Worst concert experience?  Eric Clapton in 1977 or 78 -  he was plastered and couldn't even stand up hanging on to the mike stand.  He stumbled around for a few minutes, fell over and they cancelled the show.

Cheap Trick was my first concert ever.  I was 10.  It was their All Shook Up tour.  Southside Johnny & the Jukes opened.  I've seen them several more times over the years as well, since they're ALWAYS touring.

I got to see Rush four times.  Twice for Hold Your Fire and twice for Presto.

I like when Zac Brown Band dips into other music during the show. The one show I was at, they did some beastie boys stuff.

I saw Clapton with Steve Winwood in 2009 when they stopped in Philadelphia...excellent show. I want to see Clapton again in the near future. He's nearing 80 now, I can't imagine he'll tour too much longer..
