live music - who do you like to see?

Knocked a few more names off of my list...

I saw green day & five for fighting in August. Both shows were great but the green day show was next level since they played the entire dookie & American idiot album to commemorate their anniversaries!

I was really hoping to see Avril Lavigne and simple plan together at the end of August too, but I couldn't swing it.

It's been decades since I've seen any bands y'all would've heard of.

- John Lee Hooker - that was a treat.
- Supertramp, "Crime of the Century" tour.

I’ve had some fails. Back in 1975?? (Can’t recall exact year but it was when I was in high school) some buddies asked if I was interested in getting tickets for a band called Supertramp. I’d never heard of them so I passed. By the time the concert date came I had heard them but by that time they were sold out.  I also regret having passed on Pink Floyd in Edmonton and Led Zeppelin in Seattle. I didn’t want to do the highway 2 drive to Edmonton in December and Seattle was also too long a drive. Both bands stopped touring shortly after. Pink Floyd because the band members couldn’t get along and Led Zeppelin because of the death of one of the band members sons. Oh well

I have seen some great bands but all were long ago:

Bruce 1984 or 85 at the old arena in Philly and then in summer of 85 at Olympic Stadium in Munich;
Marshall Tucker Band and Charlie Daniels Band in the late 70’ at the Nassau Coliseum:
Grateful Dead at the Carrier Dome in the early 80’s (sadly only saw them once);
Page-Plant at Madison Square Garden in 1995
U2 at MSG 1986 or 87.
Seems like a lifetime ago.

After missing him eight years ago, monday night I finally had my second chance:


David Gilmour at Circo Massimo in Rome.
Still got chills, epic AF.

Overall I can call myself lucky, I've already ticked pretty much all the key boxes on my wishlist: from Clapton to Nine Inch Nails, from Bjork to the Stones. And then Metallica, Nick Cave, Oasis, Tool, Morricone, Radiohead, Dylan...
My biggest miss at today are RATM (partially compensated this summer by Tom Morello opening for the Pumpkins) and Herbie Hancock.
