I totally agree and dont see a lot of discussion on facial wash products.

I'm a cold water shaver too. A cold SS razor on my skin is much less irritating than hot. I only use hot to soak the brush, clean up, and warm water to build lather.
Cold water is a big advantage for me.

Skin care is not just for shave time.
Before bed and most mornings, I use a mainstream cleanser/exfoliant followed by non-comedogenic moisturizing cream. I have also started to use the cream in lieu of or in addition to an aftershave. (These days, I use aftershaves mainly for fun, but not always for skin health.) The mainstream products are reasonably priced, highly rated, and I imagine about as well vetted and safe as any. Since we all have different faces, the products that work for me may not be best for you, but FWIW I am using CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser and CeraVe SA Cream. OTOH because beard prep is more specialized than skin care, I continue to use the artisan product that has worked very well for me. However, I suppose that could change too.

Thanks BP. I notice that the Vichy Normaderm is more highly rated on Amazon, but it has a lower sales rank. I like that the Vichy lists the concentration of salicylic acid (0.5%), which the CeraVe SA does not, so I may give it a try. Is there something in particular that leads you to prefer the Vichy over the CeraVe?

Yes, Vichy is owned by L'Oreal who invented (& holds the patent) on LHA which is in the Normaderm gel.
