I honestly think that the guys that worry about this also iron & starch their underwear (or their mom does so for them). Rolleyes

Christ on the cross people, the glue rinses off with hot water when you rinse between strokes. As well, as much as I like RazorRock there is no way in Hell that the wax interferes with the "precision" fit of their Third World made razors. I call major BS.

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

If that’s the case, then why is there a build-up of the stuff inside the razor head when I switch blades?

As I’ve said before, not really the end of the world, yet it’s something at least I could do without.

I would have never imagined that a bit of wax will cause a safety razor to not function properly.

This post is funny as hell! Although I totally disagree, I am not being sarcastic in how much I enjoyed reading that.

It seems like half or one third of the blades I use have wax/glue/etc and the frustrating part is that the blade gets stuck to the baseplate or cap, depending on what way I load the blade. Anyways, here's a scenario for those who say that you can rinse the blade with hot water to get the glue dots off. I have my bathroom on the second floor and the tap water takes forever to get warm water, even in these hot summer months, And the water doesn't really get all that hot anyway. The water is so hard anyway that I hate running the water over the hardware if it isn't needed as it just adds more hard water stain and buildup.

Now onto my useless rant as stated before. Why put the wax so carelessly on the ends where it covers the edge of the blades? I really don't think there is a valid reason or explanation other than stupidity. I am pretty easy going when it comes to shaving. I don't take much seriously and do it however I can to enjoy it. But damn, wax spots on blades are so bothersome and useless.

Funny, funny stuff.

As mentioned, I don't pay much attention myself but did develop the odd behavior of putting the majority of the glue on the cap side. No idea why, but just a habit that stuck.

As to hot water removing the wax, I have heard this many times but never seen it to be proven true on my end.

You can however take your old blade on change and scrape off the wax fairly easily if it really bugs you on your favorite blades.

BPman, of course glue/wax dots on a blade are not the end of the world.  However, they are an unnecessary annoyance so it's being discussed, just as we discuss any other part of wet shaving, which to most people would be boring and mundane.

Besides, at my decrepit old age, it's too late to go looking for a significant other. Winking

It's aids blade "slippage" while packaging. Perhaps Gillette has been overlooking this great "problem" and is lacking a talented engineer of genius capacity such as yourself to set them straight. Here ya go, tiger:

If I can get in their company as an "Engineer", the best I can do is show them how many companies either put the glue in the middle of the blade or hand them several examples of blades that don't use it at all.

It isn't like I am asking for them to part the Red Sea.

Gillette leads and the others fight over the crumbs. You need to realize that DE blade sales are a very, very minute slice of the overall pie. People in Third World countries are ditching their old DE razors now to buy the first Gillette disposable priced cheap enough for them to buy:  the Gillette Guard. Gillette hasn't even advertised DE blades for decades as a part of their policy. The best analogy I can come up with is that of the horse. Today, Americans see horses as a hobby mostly for the wealthy and not a part of their everyday life as before WWII for transportation & agriculture. People in the Third World view the DE as the horse as there is a world of difference between an American enjoying a leisurely paced DE shave with expensive badger brushes, exotic imported Italian soaps, etc., and a starving Third World coolie shaving by candle light in a hovel with a bowl of filthy, cold non-potable water.  Wink

It's one thing coming on here insulting people, but calling Canada a "Third World" country takes some balls. You must live in Barvikha to have that opinion.
