Second test of the "le Maurice" razor with the 1 mm SS plate. 2-day beard, which is not in my standards. Usually it's every 3 or 4 days. But that's when you can better see the effectiveness of a razor as well as its softness or not.
What to say ? it was an uneventful shave. The efficiency was there even if I think my charcoal DC level 2 is a little more efficient.
The comfort and softness are still there and to cut yourself off you would need an earthquake in the bathroom. It allows an intuitive shave where you can play on the angle and you can also put yourself on automatic pilot. Personally I preferred the 1.2 mm plate. I love the head of this razor that I find very handy.
Good short I will not repeat what I already said in my first test.
Things to improve for me:
The razor storage box. It is pretty but, in transport, all the parts can move and collide. A little felt to wedge would be welcome. The plywood top cover could be stronger and have a stopper to prevent it from opening accidentally.
the other point:
At the price offered, it seems to me that it could deserve a much better finish in terms of polishing while remaining in the same price segment. It's damage because it handicaps it in my opinion to be able to be located in the segmentation of "prestige" razors like , I let you imagine my thoughts.
In short, a razor that excels in its work that its dressing does not highlight.[Image: aYTY6ZX.jpg]

Last few shaves with the le Maurice were great. For my third consecutive shave I went with the SS 1.0 head. I used a new Gillette platinum blade. To me, it seemed more comfortable and more efficient than the .8 head which was a bit confusing. I finished with a DFS and some minor alum burn on my jaw line. I then gave my face a break and waited three days before my last shave. I went back to the 1.2mm gap brass head with a second use gillette platinum. This is definately my favorite gap and provided a pheonominal shave. Super close with no irritation. This time I paid more attention to the shave angle and was easily able to get under my nose.

Final thoughts, this is a great shaving razor! I think the handle could use some work to have better grip and aesthetics, but it gets the job done. The wooden box is very nice, but the sliding top seemed kind of flimsy, and you can hear the seperate pieces rattling around inside, so maybe something to prevent that. Overall I would not hesitate to buy this if you're looking for an extremely smooth and efficient razor. Thank you to the maker for offering the razor up to passaround! I shipped it out yesterday morning to the next participant.

You have been numerous on this forum and on others to suggest me improvements of "Le Maurice". For all this systematically constructive and instructive feedback I say a huge thank you and especially to : cornbread, Dave in KY, AJSharpOlive and Marhos24 and all the future testers.
In order to take advantage of all this information, I wish to create a V2 version of "Le Maurice".
Here are the different points I want to improve:
- Rework the razor handles to optimize the ergonomics and improve the aesthetics.
- Modify the mechanics of the head to improve the mounting of the blade and simplify the operation of polishing the head.
- Modification of the OC for more differentiation with the closed combs
- Improve the finishing of the razors
- Modification of the transport box with the addition of a protective foam, hinge and a clasp for an elegant and resistant box.

I set myself until the end of October to make all these improvements. I will share a maximum of my 3d design (fusion 360) on this post so that you can give me your opinions and suggestions so that this new version is the best possible.
The transition from V1 to V2 will probably be done at the beginning of November, until then I will continue to produce version 1. For the moment sixteen "Le Maurice" V1 have been produced and none will be made again after the transition to version 2.
See you soon for the new improvements.

Augustin
