L&L Grooming - Brushes, Soaps, Aftershaves - Now Available at Maggard Razors!

Hi Scott, I recently purchased brush rejuvenator from your website and asked my friend to ship it to me. When it arrived I couldn't understand what had happened to the soap. Attached pics might help you explain if this is a normal scenario or did this soap turn, on its way to me. Highly disappointed.

There was no leakage at all in the transit.

Looks like it just melted to me

I did write to Scott and he too stated that the soap had melted on its way. He was kind enough to offer either refund or ship a new one in it's place. I chose for refund option as he mentioned that in summers it's possible that the replacement might end up melting too. Might order in cooler months later.

I apologize for being a newb - can someone tell me is regular Declaration soap same as the ones made in collaboration with Chatillon? In performance terms ofc.
I would like to try the Bandwagon soap but if these newer ones - Icarus based/Chatillon Lux collab are better I'm going to skip the Bandwagon.

They are the same. Bandwagon is a Scott scent and the Chatty Lux are a Shawn scents. Until recently pretty much made in the bison base.

Icarus is a new beast entirely. Performance is based off of a LE run of Santal Auster. Base is fantastic but depending on price points you need to make a call on the difference between bison and Icarus and the difference in expense.

There was a FB stream last night and he may eventually convert over to Icarus altogether. Hiccups are the distributors carrying stock and the complexity to switch all scents to a new base. He did say that Darkfall when released this fall would be Icarus base.

Was this even an issue to use? I mean looking at it may be painful but it's only a rejuvinator item. Not like you need it pretty for resale. Unless it doesn't work because it melted I would have just used that.

Soap may have been a different issue if the separation caused the soap not to perform.

I have not used it yet as it is to reach me in few days. A friend who received it on my behalf shared the pic and I couldn't imagine it being usable. I didn't pay for the condition it was received in so got a refund.

Just bought “Sweet Lemon” Soap and Splash, as well as “Contemplation” Soap and Splash. I purchased the Samples of all three Soaps from Maggards and I really enjoy all three of them. All three are scents that will be perfect for warmer weather. I may have to pick up “Shore” in the future as well. I’ve been using my Declaration Grooming/CL Santal Auster Soap quite a bit lately and I’m loving the Icarus Base. For me, it ranks right up there with Wholly Kaw and Barrister and Mann “Reserve”, two of my very favorite performers. Looking forward to putting these two into the rotation.

I agree with you on the performance of the DG soap - its one of the very best. I think the L&L soap base started out pretty darn good and then continued to improve and its hard to find any fault with it now.

I really enjoy Sweet Lemon. It’s definitely Gourmand, and to me smells just like Lemon Cake that my Grandmother used to make. My five year old Daughter really enjoys the scent when I use it as well!

OK, I'm getting it. If a five year old likes it thats enough for me. Its nice to get feedback, especially the positive kind! Just yesterday I was applying aftershave and my wife called out from the bedroom, "mmm, that smells nice" - it was PAA Pineapple Bay Rum
