I have the D plate and have vastly different experience with this razor than these reports. But I'll try again.

Could you elaborate please on your experience/results and how it differs from most reports. I'm curious as this razor is getting a lot of "hype" but I'm skeptical as well. The last razor that I recall getting attention like this was the Paradigm 17-4 and I had terrible results with that razor. It remains to be seen how I'll get along with the Karve (mine is shipping currently... Fortunately he got mine out the day before he went on vacation) but it's going to be difficult to improve over my 7 Charcoal/Timeless razors!

Well... I nick myself several times every shave (doesn't happen with my other razors). Part of that is, I don't feel the blade so it's hard to tell what the "correct" angle is.
While everyone is talking about how nicely it polishes up, actually what they're not saying is how terribly it patinates. Here's mine, looks 50 years old but I've used it less than a half-dozen times:

Hype ≠ Truth
This is a theme of my life.

Yikes! That sounds and looks terrible! I hope mine doesn't patina like that. I considered polishing it (especially if I really liked it) but there's no way I'd be happy with that! I haven't seen others' patina like that, but if that's after only 6 uses....

I really do appreciate you sharing your experience! Btw, I love this hobby but there's a ton of "hype" that keeps it going... I've been such a part of it myself over the last 5 years just buying anything and everything, but I'm finally starting to see things for what they actually are (for me, of course). Much of what's considered the "best" (especially software) just flat out isn't for me!

My Experience with Karve....Paid up front, extended wait and Poor Communication.  Maybe he will pull it together but as far as I am concerned I have moved on ....

So did you ask for a refund due to the delay?

Here's my next try.
I used my best performing soap, and I took my time and was ultra careful on all passes.
Result? Nicks galore. Like I said. [Image: eae83553a03dffd2349464c7ea3abaef.jpg]

That and poor communication .... but there was something else, can't seem to put my finger on it but he just seems lackadaisical meaning he took peoples money with expectations then just blows it off.  So ya add Customer Service as well.  I also looked at his site ... does he have a return policy? I imagine any return would be a mess.

Just to add... he must have one hell of a razor because nobody is trading them off and most of the feedback seems to be fabulous.

Shit! That sucks! That's similar to how the 17-4 was with me... And I'm hoping my experience with the Karve is different! Out of curiousity, what razors do you prefer?
