Apparently it's not for everyone, and that is OK - like any product. Why can't those who enjoy the razor continue to post in this Karve Shaving thread?

Common... Be kind. If it did not work out for you, it does not mean that it does not work for others. For example, I could never get a good shave from BBS-1, but I NEVER said that it is an overhyped razor.

I have the D plate and have vastly different experience with this razor than these reports. But I'll try again.

Could you elaborate please on your experience/results and how it differs from most reports. I'm curious as this razor is getting a lot of "hype" but I'm skeptical as well. The last razor that I recall getting attention like this was the Paradigm 17-4 and I had terrible results with that razor. It remains to be seen how I'll get along with the Karve (mine is shipping currently... Fortunately he got mine out the day before he went on vacation) but it's going to be difficult to improve over my 7 Charcoal/Timeless razors!

Well... I nick myself several times every shave (doesn't happen with my other razors). Part of that is, I don't feel the blade so it's hard to tell what the "correct" angle is.
While everyone is talking about how nicely it polishes up, actually what they're not saying is how terribly it patinates. Here's mine, looks 50 years old but I've used it less than a half-dozen times:

To me thats not patina, but looks more like hard water stains on the brass.

Monchoon  I have wondered the same thing. I'm not the type to do much aftershave maintenance on my razors when I am using them.  Pretty much a hot water rinse and a shake.  My handle seems to be taking on the look that Chris posted on instagram but the top cap and baseplate have these dark spots.  

I don't want to do a high polish job on it (at this time) but have wondered if I got a polishing cloth if I could remove these dark spots and get it back on the path of lettting the patina develop.

Maybe some Barkeepers friend, or dilute a little vinegar or lemon juice on a soft cloth and lightly rub and rinse with water and dry.

It looks to me like you simply didn’t take care of the razor at all. Regarding HYPE guys get excited about a product that works for them. The Karve is working for many.

If you want to call it that you have been hyping AOS Tallow pucks for at least 2 years. I find them drying. Again just adding balance to the HYPE.

Thanks will look into it. It's my fault I should have at least wiped it down. I was just doing the same thing I would do with a plated or SS razor although with those I usually use 90% isopropyl alcohol on the head to help draw out the water I didn't know how that would affect the brass so I've skipped that step.

a razor is a tool. as any tool if you take care of it it will take good care of you...
