Guys, I hear what those of you are saying about taking care of razors, but seriously, the guy said he used the razor only 6 times. Moreover, I would hope that most of us purchasing a razor at $100 do so with plans of taking care of it. It sounds like this is a unique experience to him (not occurring with his other razors) so I'm going out on a limb here and guessing he probably knows how to care for a razor.

It seriously looks like water was left on the top cap and not shaken or dried off with a towel.

It looks to me like you simply didn’t take care of the razor at all. Regarding HYPE guys get excited about a product that works for them. The Karve is working for many.

If you want to call it that you have been hyping AOS Tallow pucks for at least 2 years. I find them drying. Again just adding balance to the HYPE.
I have years worth of several soaps, and AoS tallow was not the first nor the last. Things that will stand the test of time. Unlike HYPE.

Here is what my top cap looks like after a dozen shaves. You will notice the right and left lines where the razor glides over the face. And for the record...I do disassemble and wipe the razor dry every single time.

This finish is simply hard to keep completely clean. The quality of the shave more than makes up for it IMO.[Image: fd57f44f800fc9925aeaa8510094e793.jpg]

the quality of the shave is that what counts ultimately. One should also not forget that this is BRASS and one could not expect it to "behave" similarly to SS, Ti or any other metal, when exposed to water, air, alkaline, etc...

Here is a couple of close-up of the head. I used the razor very regularly since I polished it. I only use this polishing cloth for 10-15 sec after the razor is dried.
The unpolished surfaces are not treated with the same rigor (just wipe them dry) and they look just fine.

This is my CB Karve The Top Cap and Handle are nearly 6 months old. I had it polished by a friend on another forum but I have used it 5 times since. I take apart my razors and rinse them well in warm water and dry with a microfiber towel. I am not saying the other pictures were of razors that were not cared for but I want to show that a 6 month old can look pretty good. As far as the shave I find the E and F plates very smooth and efficient and I also find the 17-4 to be a top notch razor and don’t believe the $230 price to be extravagant when compared to other razors of the same build quality.

So you guys take apart your razors, clean and dry after every shave? Wow

I usually do that once a week since I use a razor for a week before moving onto the next razor. Haven't had any problem with other razors, will report back on the Karve once it comes back from a loan-tour.

I had the same reaction. Wow. I’m impressed. After a shave, I just rinse the razor, shake off the water, and put it back in its place. Maybe that’s why I have water marks on my Karve...

But I’m a slob. If I thought my inattention to my shaving tools affected performance or limited life span, I would be more diligent.

Years ago I had some surface rust from a blade being left in. Ever since then I have taken the blade out and cleaned them.
