Yes, Clint nice report!

In regards to rigidly held blades the Karve accomplishes this as well as any including my Wolfman. The threading is as smooth as the Kerry Gold butter back home in Ireland.

Bought a second Karve E to get polished thanks to ANG69.

Took the E for a spin before polishing and what a great plate. Slightly less aggressive than the F but with that Karve smoothness.

All this talk of comparisons has me contemplating a Blackbird again. I haven’t used one in a while and I see this am the polished SB is in stock.

Now about this polishing business. How easy would it be for a total polishing noob? I love the look of ANG69's razor, but I don't have a buffing wheel. I would want all exposed brass polished evenly. Would I get less than stellar results if I picked up some sandpaper and polishing compound at the hardware store and then polished by hand?

Also will it develop patina more slowly if polished? I find the Karve very aesthetically pleasing both new and with slight patina, but I'm not sure I'd like heavy patina that will develop over time.

The sandpaper you want is very fine wet sandpaper. I didn’t sand mine and it came out pretty well, it depends how flawlessly smooth you want it. I just used Flitz and cotton wheels on a dremel and it took no time. If you use something like flitz it’s supposed to leave a protective layer. Go slow be careful. I also left the mating surfaces between the baseplate and cap unpolished that way the the razor function won’t be affected

I don’t trust my skills so I dropped off my Karve E three inch at Brass Buff Antiques in Newton, MA. They do great work on brass and are reasonable.

If you decide to use sand paper (wet) please be careful and go very slowly and carefully in order not to alter the original geometry. I would suggest to start with 2000grit paper and then gradually move up to 6000grit. At that point the surfaces should be pretty ready for some jewelers compound and polishing tissue you can buy through Amazon (Sunshine Polishing Cloths for Sterling Silver, Gold, Brass and Copper Jewelry).

Roughly how long have you recent purchasers had to wait before shipping?
