Just stumbled upon this earlier today. Must be a new upstart company as I've never heard of them before. The Karve Shaving Company and it looks like they are producing an all brass safety razor with plate/guard options for a mild to more aggressive shave experience. Posted a couple of pics and a brief description from their website.....

The Christopher Bradley razor is a classic double edge safety razor that will provide a smooth shave and years of service. All aspects of manufacture are meticulously controlled to provide consistent performance and clean aesthetics.

Most notably, the handle is decorated with a pattern that is inspired by the centuries-old guilloche technique commonly used in watch making. The pattern is cut into the body of the handle, instead of formed, which ensures that all of the edges of the pattern are smooth and clean, while still providing plenty of friction for wet fingers.

The razor is available with any one of 5 different solid bar guards, each with increasing aggressiveness, to tailor you shave to you face and style. Optional guards, sold separately.

The entire razor is constructed from solid brass and is bead blasted for a subtle matte finish. As is the case with all uncoated brass items, a patina will form over time and the surfaces will darken.

The razor is complete and only requires a blade to be ready to use.

The handle is available in 3", 3.5", and 4" lengths to suit your style. All handles employ a #10-32 thread.

95g x 83mm long / 110g x 98mm long / 120g x 108mm

100% Made in Canada

Please specify which guard you want when you go through the checkout. They are AA (least aggressive), A, B, C, and D (most aggressive). B is a great guard for a mild shave or for beginners. If you're not sure which guard you want, I will be confirming each order before they go out and you can still change your mind then.

Please note, shipping is expected for December 11. Razors will be shipped on a first come-first serve basis. If at any point before your razor ships, you decide that you don't want to wait any more, please contact us for a refund and we'll be happy to provide it, no questions asked.

Interesting indeed.....

Ran into this on Instagram last week. It is quite interesting. Would be difficult to decide which “guard” to go with, although the correct answer is probably “D”. Smile

You might be right on that assumption. But here is a quick look at the numbers on the guards/base plates....

Here is a quick listing and run down on sizing.... This is from a member on another forum who contacted the maker, Chris Kirchen. What it means relative to guard span and blade exposure, no clue. But it's a start and point of reference. Seems It can be aggressive, and then again it might not. As you know the Feather AS-D2 has a bigger gap than the D guard here and it's as mild as sweet Italian sausage.

AA - 0.018" / 0.47mm
A - 0.023" / 0.60mm
B - 0.028" / 0.73mm
C - 0.033 / 0.85mm
D - 0.038" / 0.98mm

Canadian my friend. I flinched and ordered a set with 2 more optional guards/plates for $196.95 CAD which came out to $155 and a couple of pennies. I wanted to pull the trigger on the Timeless version, but the gap size was kind of on the low end and while some of the reviews were good, some reviewers felt it was a tad mild. I decided against purchasing it. Then this one comes along. I'm weak......

Hmm, hadn’t seen those gap numbers before, and they would make me reconsider the D guard (and perhaps go with the C). As said, though, blade exposure is another determining factor in the matter.

Which guards did you end up ordering, if I may ask? Keep us posted on the razor, it truly is an interesting one.

The three photos leave me wanting, not only becuase of the angles chosen. Could be because they're only just starting up, but fram a customer perspective, I wish they had included photos of all head configurations clearly showing the gaps. Obviously, I wouldn't know exactly how the gaps translate into feel and aggression level as there's more to that than gap, but it'd get me a little longer towards deciding. I'm still interested, though!

Ordered one last night but no option at checkout to select which guard I want (D=aggressive). The only option is handle length. I believe they will notify me when shipped to asked for my plate selection ( I hope). They only use express (Canadian ) shipping but that is okay with me as it will arrive very quickly. Looking forward to this razor. They did indicate shipping will be December 11.

On the website they state-- "Please specify which guard you want when you go through the checkout. If you're not sure which guard you want, I will be confirming each order before they go out and you can still change your mind then."

So they should notify you prior to shipping to confirm your baseplate choice.

Hopefully. If you want an additional plate the process is easy as it gives you a drop down to make a selection.
