I picked up a couple of Israeli Reds from Tryablade.com a little while ago and this morning I loaded one into the RazoRock Black Mamba, WOW - what a smooth efficient shave BBS in no time flat. I had to check a couple of times to see if I had actually loaded a blade or if I had totally forgotten the correct angle. I used some LA shave soap - Hollywood Romance and finished with the Mickey Lee Itallion Stallion. I'm definitely picking up more of these beauties.

Marko, I have been using these blades for years and, along with Astras, think they are old reliables. They may not be everyone's darling but if you want a blade that will offer up a good shave in almost any DE razor then I find Israeli Personna Red Packs a fine choice.

Hi Freddy, like I said, I was amazed at how smooth they were. As I try more blades I'm finding more that I like than dislike. Yeah there are some losers for sure but I'm generally impressed with the selection. Tryablade is an excellent way to, well, try a bladeSmile without shelling out for a whole 5 or 10 pack. I know its not a lot of money but it adds up and if you don't like the blades the do not use pile starts to get bigger.

I'm not sure I have one favourite blade, I like lots of them, the feather in the feather razor, Gillette silver blues, Vikings Sword, Israeli reds, Astra. I tried a Polisilver super iridium in the wolf man today and I didn't like the combination. I'll try it with different soap and in a different razor before I decide if I like it or not. Today I did not like it.

The Gillette Silver Blue has been my best blade in my less than 3 months of DE shaving. I recently tried a couple of Polsilver SI blades, and really liked them too. The Israeli reds have now moved to the top of the "Try Next" list! I like the idea of shaving and getting a great shave while wondering if a blade was loaded!! too funny, thanks for the review!

I really wanted to like the Reds and they're not bad -- just not nearly as good as some others for me. So while I really want to use them, I don't see myself buying more than the few I got from tryablade. They just don't seem particularly smooth or sharp for me.

Hi @Glenn Miller I hear you, I find that some blades work differently in different razors. The Israeli reds that I so loved in the RR black mamba was not very nice in the Wolfman. Too many razors and too many blades adds up to too many permutations and combinations to keep track of without writing it down.

My first try with an Israeli Red in my Parker 91R was rough and disappointing. I put the razor aside for a few months. Then I tried again. Same razor. Same blade.
It was exceptional.
I think the difference may have been due to an unconscious change and improvement in my technique, not first use roughness.
Since then it has become my preferred DE blade.

Good point. I'm in the midst of a 30 day focus with nothing but Old Types, so my view is very specific for the moment.
