I had thought that the X3 was going to be stainless steel but it seems its machined aluminum. Bit of a bummer because it will probably have the same weak point at the threaded stud - cap junction as the 102 and the other ikon aluminum head razors.

The X3 head only is available at Italian Barber for US$29.99 - good deal.  I'm hoping these are good because this form of release where there seems to be plenty of razors available at multiple vendors is alien to me. What a concept?   I've been conditioned to expect scarcity so of course I jumped at the first one I found which as it turns out because of FX and shipping from the US etc wasn't my best option.  Oh well, thats one less tub of soap I can buy.

I can't imagine it's any cheaper from IB after shipping than Maggard or Connaught. I paid $37.04 shipped from Maggard, and had I know Connaught was getting them it would have been $35 shipped. IB is usually about $7 shipping on most things I've checked but haven't checked for the razor head.

Is there a functional reason why the safety bars are not the same? Or are they, and the images make it seem not so? I get it when one side is a safety bar and the other side is an open comb, but this is odd.

It only would have been cheaper in that I could have topped up with other "essential" items and got free shipping.

IB has a note on their website that next week they will be selling the X3 head with one of their RR bulldog handles for $36.99. I'm not that fond of slants but it's hard to pass up at that price.

I only own the V2 RRSS so I have no other slant to compare it to. I understand the concept of the guillotine slicing action. To me when my whiskers come back they seem more prickly like they are sharper then when using a non-slanted blade. Does anyone else experience this?

I do and I prefer it. The cut is so clean. Sharp and clean cut from slants are fantastic when BBS and during regrowth.

I think so too, but the "teeth" sure do look different from side to side.
