Lanolin.... waxy film left on the face.
Why do you like it?

Us either. We experimented with it during development. Decided too many people had issues and didn't make the soap better.

Because it almost always makes for a smoother shave. As for a waxy film just wash afterwards with a good cleanser.

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

Nice to hear, I'll have to give your soap a shot soon. Thanks for your thoughts.

Respectfully, I have to disagree. I have never once seen any improvement whatsoever where lanolin is added to a base.

Razorock, for instance, since they have soaps both with and without lanolin. Their soaps without lanolin work better and feel better...and it's not even close, in my book.

RazoRock soaps are not even close to many top tier artisan soaps in my book. Not trying to bash, just my honest opinion. And another honest opinion, just because something does or doesn't work for you, does not mean it's the same for everyone else.

I used to think that too. Totally disagree with that now.
But, if you've only used the lanolin ones, I would agree with you...
But the ones without lanolin are very good. Some of my faves.

Fair point.

But they wouldn't be the EXACT SAME soap with & w/o lanolin. As well, RazoRock uses a cornucopia of Italian soap makers and few know who made which. Regardless, Mitchell's Wool Fat as an example uses lanolin and I have never heard anyone complain about the shave.

If a soapmaker uses a consistent base across soaps and only tweaks scent and (once in a while) one or two other things, and if you try enough of that soapmaker's products, you can tell what adding lanolin (isolating that factor) is doing for or against the soap.

Razorock uses TFS for 99% of their soaps. No question.

Just because people get good shaves from MWF does not mean it's due to the lanolin.
I could say the same thing about AOS tallow, which does not have lanolin. B&M Reserve. CRSW GLIDE. Grooming Dept. Phoenix AA (even though it's still a secret how great their shave soaps are)

I guess my point is, none of you would even miss it if it wasn't in the mix.

But since you've been told that lanolin is some miracle ingredient... No questions asked by anyone.

Lame.

It's not weird to you that over the past year or so several new soaps that do not contain lanolin have come out and are considered to be the best...better than the lanolin soaps by the same maker.

Obviously then, lanolin wasn't magic in the first place.
I'm just saying: open your eyes and mind and realize it.
Thanks.
