I don’t think that’s necessary. All you need is a great shave with a lanolin free soap.

Quit while you're ahead. Wink

Nero, that was completely uncalled for.  As has been pointed out, some like lanolin and some don't.  Some have an allergic reaction to it.  Some people like tallow based soaps, some don't and for any number of reasons.  None of the reasons is right or wrong for everyone.  You have made your point and insulting others is not going to give that point any more gravitas.

Gentlemen, good discussions are always welcome but if the insults continue then the thread shall be closed.

This is not the first time Nero has made a song and dance regarding his dislike of lanolin and probably won’t be the last. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

I only insulted after being insulted. The dude didn't even make a single point yet and acted like "hey... beat that".

Still waiting for someone to make a good point for lanolin.
You can review my previous posts for points of contention.

There is no all out-weighing good point for or against it. It's personal preference. I can get great shaves from those that have and those that don't. I've never experienced the waxy feel you described and MWF, since it was mentioned and is known to have it, is one of my all time top soaps.

I will say that some, not all, of the better performing soaps IMO such as MWF, Talbot, L&L, all contain lanolin and will reach for those before I reach for my B&M Glissant bases and others. Is it because of the lanolin? Maybe. As long as I enjoy the product and get a good shave then I don't care.

In the end most shavers won't even know if their soaps have it until they go looking for it and this is no different than the "Alcohol is better than witch hazel" splash argument (which it is Tongue).

I know, thanks Primo for your observation.
I feel like I'm challenging everyone's religion or something since no one can make evidence based points like I have.
It's really pathetic to see from this side.

Let's start with this:
Who likes the waxy film that's left behind by a lanolin soap?
