4 years ago today I had my first traditional shave. So thankful to enjoy my shave now.

How long have you been a proper shaver?

Almost 10 years ago. I purchased my first brush at Marshall Field in Chicago.

In the mid-70's I shaved with a Super Adjustable that I had found the medicine chest along with some Schick Super Platinum blades (which were terrific) and an can of Noxzema canned goo.

After a Grizzly Adams hiatus of a few decades, I decided to clean up so 7 years ago I decided that the carts had gotten to expensive and remembered the smooth face feel of my youth. After watching Mantic59 and a few clicks on Amazon i owned:

Parker 91R
Sharp Stainless Blades
Tweezerman Badger brush
Williams Mug Soap

It's amazing that I didn't slice my face off. An aggressive razor along with the non-lathering modern Williams and a scratchy, poking brush was nto a good formula to start off with. After spending some time on B&B and the Shave Den things improved quickly.

66 Gillette Slim
Personna Red IP blades
Omega Pro 49
C.O. Bigelow shave cream

So it's been 7 years of fun and enjoyable shaves.

Been traditional wetshaving for about a year now. Used to hate shaving but now I can't get enough (shaves or products!)

I started proper almost 30 years ago, but abandoned it for convenience of cartridges and extra crispy gel in the can. Returned 5 years ago, still pissed about lost time Wink

It was either late in 2010, or early in 2011, so 4 years.

Edit: I actually had a failed first attempt in the late '60s, or it might have been in early '70. I bought an old pack of micro rusted CS blades though with predictable results.

I did use a cheap brush and a puck of mug soap from walmart probably 10 years ago with a regular cartridge razor. since I didn't know what I was really doing at the time, I never stuck with it and ended up throwing out the brush and soap. I think it was a Burma brush from walmart and a puck of Williams soap.
