I started traditional shaving in September of 2011 after watching an episode of Mad Men and thinking "Man, that looks classy." I started doing research and watching YouTube videos for about a month and a half before finally ordering my first kit. I started because it looked cool and stayed for the benefits.

10 years now - still keep a pretty simple den and enjoy both straight and safety razor shaving!

Just about 3 years now, a colleague of mine who was also into car detailing like me told me all about his new Simpson Colonel brush . I nearly fell over when he told me he paid £45 for it. I couldn't believe it, we've both since sold all our car detailing stuff and basically exchanged one obsession for another . I first got an ED DE89 , a tub of TOBS almond and an Edwin Jagger best badger brush, now I've got Shavemac customs, a chubby 2 , a Stealth , a Mongoose , vintage Gillettes , straight razors , hones , strops, Mdc you name I've got it or had it.
Now he's flabbergasted at my latest purchase on a Monday morning at work!
I don't regret any of it, my wife does though.

I have only been in it for about 6 months or so. Started with a micro one touch paired with a vdh starter set, picked up a cheap badger brush a few months later, then found a few EJ de89s as a lot for a great price, picked them up and gifted 2 of them to friends to get them interested, then began to explore some different artisan soaps and classic creams and a decent badger from Vulfix (come on it is made on the Isle of Man, what else can you pick up and say that about) and a proper boar from omega, a chinese straight honed by the stallion. I am currently attempting to dial an att s2.

Currently my favorite soaps are: Castle Forbes Limes, Musgo Real classic, PAA Deja Fougere, Caitie's LPV

Been wet shaving about a year and a half now. Completely changed from a chore to a joy and I've been addicted ever since.
