The finish is smooth and it is CNC machined. The edges are precise.

My photo was just taken at such a close distance that everything is magnified. For example, the edge of the blade. I wanted to get as close as possible to show how little edge there was, but other than that the image is not representative of the finish/color.

Henson razors arrived today. Anodized finish on the razors is excellent and smooth (Purple and Azure). You can see the blade gap difference between the men's and women's razors.
The handle screws onto the baseplate with nearly zero wobble. Tolerances look very tight. Very impressive for a $40 razor. I will post a review, after I have a few shaves.

This thread has me interested. Went to the website and i'm seeing $49.99 (usd) plus about $14 shipping to the US. Am I missing something to get the $40 deal?

Those are Canadian dollars. Change the currency to US dollars.

Nevermind... you have to go to the men's razors section and choose the one without the blades. It also drops shipping to $11. Sorry, I can be blind sometimes.

Does anyone know if the head is cast in a mold or CNC machined (before the aluminum is anodized with the color)?  I could not see any mold marks in the pictures, but the finish appears similar to a "smooth cast and tumbled" finish.

From the razor description and the FAQ they say "Most of our competitors use manufacturing processes that build in allowances. Allowance in the blade fit, allowance in the head width, allowance in the blade gap. [They] build in these allowances in case something isn't perfect in their metal casting or their coating. Henson Razors are machined (not cast) and are anodized (not painted or chromed) so our tolerances are down to the thousandth of an inch."

I received mine days ago, but I've been doing some tests/shaveoffs with an H&S I also purchased. I'll be using the Henson tomorrow morning and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Just received mine, Very fast shipping and only 48 hours in Chicago. Will give it a run tonight on 24 hour beard.
