Help with razors

Have you considered trying a good old straight?

Yes, I have given a straight a try...however, I don't think they were honed sharply enough. Everything went well until it came time to shave around the lips and chin (the thickest whiskers on my face).
I do plan on sending them to someone for a proper hone one day, I just don't have the time to be straight shaving prior to work. Will have to one day though!! Thank you

This is exactly why I started shaving in the evenings - triple benefit:
1. Have some quiet me-time
2. Learn a new way of shaving
3. Make my SWMBO happy

I will try again to shave in the evenings, but my hair grows back quickly.

I don't typically shave ATG, so take my comments with a grain of salt.

When I've tried shaving ATG with my more aggressive razors, I get a lot of skipping and tugging as well. I do think it's the flexibility of the blade due to the higher blade exposure.

Exactly, the skipping and tugging. That is why I am trying to resort back to razors with less blade exposure and/or gap.

In this hobby having quick growing facial hair is an advantage, because we like shaving! And if my hair grew fast enough, I would certainly find some time in my pretty busy schedule to shave twice!!

Or you could try an adjustable and just dial it down for the ATG pass.

I get 2 shaves a day whenever possible. Saturday is usually a mid-day shave, followed by an early morning on Sunday and a late evening to get mback on my evening schedule for the work week...
