Any chance you can bring back the Voyage scent in Lusso?  Almost finished with my sample of the Janus and I just love the clean scent.

Unfortunately, scents don't move from one formula to another. But there are plenty of fresh scents coming up starting in February, here are two, both are Lusso: Lily of the Valley and Chypre Magnolia. 

Finally got a chance to use the Nirvana base sample that Mohammad sent me and this one is very interesting. This one is just about all butters and maybe one oil. I put a scoop of it in my bowl and worked up some lather very quickly. I shook my brush out 4 times and should have done one more shake because at first the lather had that thin fluffy look after about 30 seconds but I kept working it and got the lather to a nice consistency. This one is going to create a ton of thick rich lather with a small amount of soap. I used a twice used Feather blade in my Paradigm Diamondback and this base provides a ton of cushioning and protection. I forgot that Mo told me not to use pre or post shave so I used my pre version 2 but remembered not to use post shave serum and this base has a similar post shave feel to the Nai base. I shaved around 6pm this evening and it’s 11:15 now and I am still feeling the smoothness of the shave and the post shave feel. I am really interested in this particular base because there are no additives in it from what Mo told me. He can speak more on it but I really like this one and even the feel of the lather is a bit different in a good way. I will post some pics on my Instagram page tomorrow once I can get some in daylight. The main thing I am interested in is how will it hold up over time because of it being made up of various butters. Can’t wait to see what scent he puts to this one when it comes out.
Mo is one of the most innovative minds in the shave soap industry by a mile. I will say that this one has some similar post shave qualities to Jabonman Eufros newest soaps but in its own unique way.

This is an interesting soap base! It's made without castor oil or coconut oil or stearic acid. Granted, Lauric acid and Stearic acid are present in the butters. The base has the right PH balance to be self preserving. It also has some of the lowest superfat numbers of any soap GD makes. 

Nirvana is now the simplest of GD formulas!

Ingredients: Water, Kokum butter, Potassium Hydroxide, Ucuuba butter, Cupuacu butter, fragrance, Shea butter, Tucuma butter, Sasha Inchi Oil, and Sodium Lactate.

Since I knew that Luxor was in the mail and would be here in a few days, I took the opportunity this past week to shave with some of my other favorites such as MdC.  The break from GD would give me a base from which to judge it again.  Finally, Luxor arrived and I shaved with it this morning.  The Lusso base lathers quickly and is a pleasure to apply to your face.  It feels so luxurious that I was reluctant to rinse it off after my final clean up pass.  The lather is not lite and fluffy but more of a shiny and well hydrated cream.  The residual slickness works so well for me because I have sensitive skin and a lite beard.  The result is smooth hydrated skin without irritation.

Now for the scent.  It is a clean masculine scent reminiscent of a soap one would find in a five star Parisian hotel.  Not only does Mohammad make a great soap but his scent creation needs to be applauded and recognized.    I need a backup of this one.

Same deal as US residents directly ordering from any of the Canadian artisans or retailers. Honestly, the price of the additional postage is the cost of a beer or two at a bar...or less. I don’t sweat it...So it adds a few pennies to the cost of a shave...big deal...

Charbon arrived in today’s mail.  I’ll try it in the morning.  Janus tallow is my favorite base.

The scent is complex.  It reminds me perhaps of a blend of Cascade, Aion and Veritas.  Off the puck, My nose picks up the leather, light smoke, cedar, juniper, sandalwood.  I notice the same Sichuan pepper that is in Cascade. When I purchased it, I was worried about what exactly was a “coal accord”.  I need not have worried.  Charbon is an acquired taste but very complex and intriguing.  I can’t stop smelling it.  It will be interesting to see how it evolves when lathered up in the morning.

The Janus base in Charbon is a favorite of fine.  It loads quickly and builds a lather on the face just a little denser with more structure than some of the other GD bases.  Results and post shave are elite levels.  The scent may take some time to grow on me.

I received a few samples (thanks Mo) this evening and had the joyous pleasure of trying GD Voyage, in the vegan Janus base.

First off, anyone who says that vegan soaps don't work as well as tallow has not tried anything by GD. Wow.

This soap whipped up fairly easy, producing a low structure, slick, and protective lather that was out of this world.

The scent was light, but present and nice. There's definitely a good cologne vibe to this one, with some mildly sweet notes that keep it from being overwhelming. I swear I am also getting something minty, but I don't see that in the notes listed:

Scent Notes: Petitgrain, Elemi, Orange, Ginger, Lavender, Rose, Frankincense, Black Pepper, Incense Accord, Patchouli and Amber.

Nonetheless, this was an awesome shave. Can't wait to till my next shave.

These are two great scents.  Melody reminds me of a fresh clean scent similar to GD’s earlier release called “Soap”.  The Maleki has a very lite rose, Oud and musk scent.  Me likey Maleki.
