However, I would really like to buy a simple and plain old nice Lavender soap in these wonderful GD bases.

I agree.  Unsure of this one.  I have had other soaps which had "damp earth" and "soil" in the scent description and I did not care for them at all.  It will be difficult to sit on the sideline on this one but that very well may be where I will be...

**Petricor is now up on his site.

Love laundry and Coattails Redux. The new coattails smells very similar to the original, but has a bit stronger leather note. Normally I don’t like leather, because it smells like a tack room or saddle, or even a baseball glove. This smells, instead, like a brand new pair of dress shoes. The whole scent is very sophisticated.

So I’m sitting on the beach in Siesta Key, Sarasota reading all of your reviews and so happy I ended up getting SOAP along with all of the others I ordered. Only problem is that my package is at my office in Atlanta and we will be back from Spring Break tomorrow evening so my first shave will be Tuesday morning. Can’t wait to get back and shave!! Hilarious!!

Long story short ... I changed my mind and got some. I myself like both scents, but I am not surprised that reactions to Redux seem more mixed.

Email received today from Grooming Dept.

Greetings,

If you have recently purchased the April 1 release soaps, thank you for your business. I hope you’re enjoying the soaps.

You probably noticed that one of the releases is a new vegan formulae. It’s spectacular, it’s as good as any tallow soap and will only get better through planned upgrades! Please see these initial impressions.

Every Grooming Dept formula goes through refinement and ratio changes overtime. My continued R&D or tinkering Smile keeps these formula evolving so you can have the best possible soap I know how to make at that time. I’m constantly learning and experimenting. It usually takes about 4-6 months for each upgrade to make it out of the workshop. I now have about 12 other formulae old and new constantly evolving!

It’s primetime for Primus to shine! The formula dates back to 2017, it has recieved 5 upgrades and the upcoming sixth upgrade is a doozy! The post shave is now extraordinary and the lather is denser and more protective.

Astute is a new lamb tallow formula, it will make its first appearance in Terra Firma. The base is minimal of sorts, it has no clay, no gums, no herbal additives, no wax, etc.. Astute is about incredible slickness from butters that have silicon like characteristics. The combination of the oils with the butters and lamb tallow produce stunning luxurious lather.

I’m working on a massive release, it should be available around April 17th. Here are the soaps which will be launched. I hope you like them

Pax (Primus tallow)

Angel (lamb tallow)

Yuzu Mandarin (Primus Tallow, lots of real Yuzu EO from Japan is in the scent)

Diamond Dust (Tallow + Duck)

Cedarwood & Lemon (Janus Tallow)

Lavender & Lime (Janus Tallow)

Orange & Rosemary (Janus Tallow )

Geranium And Palmarosa (Janus Tallow)

Conca Di Oro - Janus Vegan

Vetiver Nobile - Janus Vegan

Credence (tallow & duck)

Ambrosia (tallow & duck)

Jasmine & Civet (tallow & duck)

Best,
Mohammad Abed.

I was reading this email earlier. Quite the selection to choose from.
He's doing some hard graft to get all of those at, at the same time. Hopefully, the development of an aftershave is still in the works.

I used Laundry yesterday and it was absolutely amazing! The scent is not what you would expect from something named “Laundry”. I have a ton of GD soaps and my favorite scent is Veritas. My favorite base is the Donkey Milk combo with Lusso and Mallard tied for second. That being said, Laundry smells amazing and the lather that I created after a 15 second load (could have stopped after 10 seconds) was thick, slick, fluffy and luxurious! I was going to use SOAP, but I couldn’t resist using Laundry first when I got my package. I will use SOAP next and Coattails Redux after that. I don’t buy any Vegan soaps anymore because I just love the tallow bases more. Of course, a few people told me not to sleep on SOAP so I bought a tub to see if all the talk is true. I will say that Laundry is in the top slot for me right now. It is in that legendary “best shave soap I have ever used” position!![Image: 10e9ffdb98b1167622f952b7f0a7dcc4.jpg]
