Fwiw my skin has never been in worse shape than when I used alum and witch hazel as so many suggest. Just absolute murder on my skin. Super dry and lots of ingrowns. A total disaster.

Simple alcohol based splashes in the summer and balms/serums in the winters with alcohol splashes applied after.

I had roughly similar results. My skin definitely said “Hallelujah!” when I ditched the alum block, but witch hazel doesn’t seem to bother me. OTOH, I rarely use splashes with alcohol anymore. Residual lather, a warm water rinse, and a product like Stirling’s WH & Aloe (just to name one of many) is as good as it has gotten for me. However, I am looking forward to adding Grooming Dept RS to the routine.

DanLaw Fantastic! I suggest 10 days. Also, don't wipe/dry your face after you wash off soap residue at the end, let the water dry on it's own. Please keep us posted on your observations.

So I’ve been using the serum, letting it absorb for a min or 2 and then following with my AS splash of choice.

What I want to know Smile Do you prefer to shave on an empty or a full stomach?
#2,750
I truly prefer to shave my stomach after a nice dessert only. Shavings of the stomach are reserved for special evenings in my house.
