At some I want to write my thoughts down about scent pairing and matching.

I personally don't like anything matching anything For me contrast, and scent layering and some colliding scents notes are more exciting. I encourage everyone to experiment. Think of it like cooking, and you're throwing things in the pot to see what you come up with.

You mentioned this many months ago and I tried it and liked it. For example, using one scent for soap and another for aftershave with Wholly Kaw King of Oud / Chypre Rose. I also use your GD soaps with various aftershave scents and I can pick up lingering smells of the soap along with the aftershave. I have a 4oz bag of whole/broken star anise and dont have many recipes that call for it....suppose I'll toss some in tomato sauce.

But can I then use that tomato sauce as a matching AS for Tao? Just wondering.

I’m not going to go on and on about how great this combo was today. I will just say that it was OUTSTANDING!! I did not think the preshave could get any better than the V32 that I had been using for the last several months but DAMN!!
Next shave, I am going to use a Saponificio Varesino hard soap with this preshave and post shave serum just to see what the results are from a face feel during and after shaving.

Hi George, it is always a delight to read through your eloquent reviews specially with the spectacular photos!

I would love to hear your take on how the 'Janus' base compares with the Primus or Lusso. I for sure will get one of the Janus soaps once released, a Lusso base is already on its way from a friend of mine, but I also interested in knowing what others think about comparative performance of Janus vs. Primus. After all, it was the great review of many others here and on the B & B forum that got me into the GD club. Thanks and Happy Shaves!

To me the Janus takes everything great about primus and cranks it up a couple notches. It’s my fave of all of Mohammad’s bases

I still think the Mallard base is the best and the Janus base is right under that but now that Mo has combined the Mallard, Lamb and Donkey Milk, that one surpasses everything for me. I loved the first effort with Donkey Milk so I hope there is quite a bit more to come with that ingredient. Mandarin Bay is the best soap GD has ever made and that is saying a lot!!

George1906 and Kehole, thank you very much guys for your thoughts! I ordered a Mandarin Bay soap for a buddy of mine but not for myself fearing that the scent profile could irritate, I feel like I'm losing a lot not getting a Mandarin Bay for my own use ;((

Mo’s first venture with Donkey Milk was Chypre Conifer and I love that one!
