I'm honored to collaborate with Sean @ Maol Grooming

The first Janus tallow release will be based on a scent designed by Sean. It's amazing! I have had the essential oils for a while. We wanted to release the soap this summer. But my personal issues got in the way as they have gotten in my way to releasing my other products.

The soap will only be available from Top of The Chain. It'll be available at the same time as my other upcoming soaps. Stay tuned.

Looking forward to this! Any hint on scent profile?

Hey Mohammad, I'm brand new to your company and have never tried any of your products. Would you say that your primus base is your best in terms of performance (what I most care about is slickness and residual slickness)? Also, any idea on when you'll be restocking inventory? Thanks
Everyone else feel free to chime in as well.

I have tried most of his previous bases, I found all to be fantastic, but if I get only one in future, I would get the primus base.

About restocking, I heard figuring out Mark Twain's address was easier. Joke's aside, I guess very soon, within 2 months? Since his soaps are being cured.

Hi shaveSymptomatic

Some people prefer tallow soaps, some prefer vegan soaps. At one point Primus-tallow had the edge, but the duckfat caught up, now the Primus-Vegan base in the latest iteration will be equal to Primus-tallow and the duck fat formulae.

The soaps are now curing and should soon be available.

OK, thanks. Looking forward to it Smile

Let me chime in as another user of the pre-shave. Previously, I have not been impressed with pre-shaves, as my experience is that they don't do what they claim to do. Besides that, I can't remember the last time I had irritation DE shaving, and believe the #1 determinant in getting an irritation free shave is proper shaving technique, so I kind of put pre-shave in the snake oil category. (For those who have had good luck with a pre-shave, this is not to take away from your experience as YMMV.)

Anyway, I am a relative newb to straight razor shaving, and get quite a bit of irritation, having not perfected my technique with that tool only 50 or so shaves into the journey. Upon receiving the pre-shave, I thought a SR shave would be a great test for the product. Mohammad's pre-shave really shines here. First of all, it definitely reduces irritation and helps with blade glide. Sometimes my wiry whiskers can slow down a straight blade, and I didn't find this happening at all with the pre-shave. Additionally, it's not oily or goopy at all (like I find most pre-shaves to be), and after a 3 pass shave and rinse, there's no annoying residue to wipe off at all. I continue to be amazed at Mohammad's ability to dial in formulations of shaving products to a level really not approached by most artisans. Cudos on this one!

This is interesting as I am curious about preshaves and fairly  new to straight razor/shavette shaving.  I also have not had much irritation on safety razor shaving since I have learned and acquired proper technique, but am interested in buying some of Mohammad's new preshave and soap.

Do you apply the pre-shave before each pass?
